I just got back from the Erie PA. concert. It is 1:00 AM Cleveland time.

It seems to me that his voice got a little stronger than when I saw him in Cleveland in November, 1999.

Show was excellent as usual...Lot of people...Mixing his songs well....

Some of the different songs he sang that he doesn't sing all the time were....

The Watchman's Gone
14 Karat Gold
Rainy Day People
Shadows
Heaven Don't Deserve Me
Carefree Highway
I"ll Do Anything you say
Fading Away
Ghost's of Cape Horn

I would like to say thanks to Chris in Maryland for alerting me to the fact that GL was coming to Erie. I would have never known it without her and because of that I got excellent seats in the middle section, 5th row. Thanks again Chris,

Wes

Wes,
Glad you enjoyed the concert - as if there was any doubt you would. (I'm in Maryland, but I think there is a Chris in Virginia here on the board also.) Thought about you Thursday night heading to PA. I was at the Carlisle concert last night (Fri.) and it was also terrific. Had front row seats center so really got to watch all the goings on as well as enjoy the music. It's interesting to watch how sometimes signals are given for what the next song will be -- almost like a silent relay message that goes around the stage.

For the first time heard him sing Forgive Me Lord. He did not do Heaven Don't Deserve Me as he did in Erie. I guess he's doing one or two of the rarities at each show. His Painter Passing Through was especially beautiful last night. He looked great and sounded great and was obviously enjoying performing for us. A terrific night.

I am very sorry for getting you mixed up. I always get mad about the people from New York City who think Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa are all the same state. I got you mixed up with Virginia even though I have traveled Maryland and Virginia extensively. See what happens when you get old.

I would trade "Heaven Don't Deserve Me" for "Forgive Me Lord" any day of the week. Wanna Trade?

How'd you get those front row seats?

I thank you again for putting me on to the Erie concert.

Wes.......

Wes,
I swear by pollstar. The site has an automatic alert and it notifies you by email when artists you select have changes to their schedules. So as GL schedule changed and new dates were added I got an email. I called Carlisle as soon as I got the notice and was able to get the front row seats. It was pretty cool being so close. He heads back my way in August. I've sent away for the tickets but don't know what kind of seats I got. It is a much bigger venue (Wolf Trap in Virginia) and subscribers get their tickets through the mail. Anyway, it'll be a nice treat at the end of the summer.

Just looking at the backlog of posts and I caught this one! I'm from a small little side town 30 miles S by SE of Erie,PA. It's called Corry. I tell you,If I could see A Gordon Lightfoot show in Erie,it would be basically like seeing it in my own hometown! What an appropriate setting. As I said on a different thread,Orillia is just a few hundred miles North of there,so his songs about the countryside and forests and the environment virually reflect those surroundings I spentmy early years in. If your reading this Wes....YOU LUCKY DUCK!!! Catch ya on the flipsieof Sundown!
