Right. This evening I was sitting at my computer, using a system called Limewire to download songs off the Internet. I thought I'd download some Gordon Lightfoot, and when I typed in a song, a bunch of songs came up. But something caught my eye. Among them was a song called 'There Is Love', and another one called 'Afternoon Delight'. I'm like "huh??" Gord doesn't have these songs out on CD... Well sure enough, I clicked on one to download it and listen. It was 'There Is Love'. When it first started playing, I exclaimed to myself "Who the hell does this guy think he is, pretending to be Gordon Lightfoot"??!! . As I listened further, I REALIZED THAT IT WAS WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A TEENAGE LIGHTFOOT. And I'm wondering, "how is it I can find an unreleased GL song from way back in the day, but I can't even find 'The List' (the song I was searching for). Well, I listened to 'Afternoon Delight', and another one called 'Brandy You're A Fine Girl', but this one didn't sound like Gord (unless it was Gord and he was trying to sound like the guy who sang it originally).

Now I'm wondering, did Gord sing these songs back before he released the 'Lightfoot' album, or is there another artist named Gordon Lightfoot that I just don't know about? I'm getting real confused.

(There's also a song performed by a Gordon Lightfoot called 'Time In A Bottle'; haven't heard it yet, but I'm about to right now. )

the three most common file naming errors seem to be
1.Noel Paul Stookey's "Wedding Song"
(that he wrote for fellow Peter Pauland Mary folk group mate Peter Yarrow's wedding)
that song includes the words
"For whenever two or more of you are gathered in his name There is love. there is love."
see:-

2.Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce
3 "'Brandy You're A Fine Girl" a 1972 number 1 for Looking Glass
hear a mIdi file of the melody at:-
http://users.cis.net/sammy/brandy.htm
there is also:-
4 another error that fooled me a while ago The Chad Mitchell Trio's fine version of
Ian Tysons "Song For Canada" with Mike Kublik's lead vocals sounding to me extremely like how Gord sang it in the 60'
John Fowles
Of course there are hundreds of other songs (including the telephone directory) that we wish Gordon would commit to a recording!!!

Hey James!
I know of one idiot who thought (and does this makes me sick )Morris Albert's,"Feelings" was by Gordon! Dumb ninny!

It's an unfortunate piece of musical ignorance on Music downloading sites that people just "assume" they know who the artist is and just don't research it properly.

That's one reason i'll stick with going to the "music" store. At least there I know what I'm getting.
