Hello all. Recently, I have gotten into GL because my parents have too. They got started because they heard The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald. When they bought the Summertime Dream, Sundown, and Summer Side of Life albums, I got started because I really liked Sundown. So far I've really gotten to like The Watchmans Gone, Race Among The Ruins, Carefree Highway, 10 Degrees And Getting Colder and most of all Sundown.
I think I should mention, I am only sixteen years old. I'm a pretty popular girl, and have a lot of friends, but none of them have ever heard of Gord! Does anyone know of any people around my age that are into Gord? That way I won't feel like such an odd ball!
Anyway, this looks like a great site and a great discussion forum, and I hope we can have lots of fun chatting on here!

Hi Harmony,
Welcome aboard. There are some young posters here. There's one named DMD3 but he hasn't posted in awhile. Try playing the music for your friends without telling them who it is. After a few tunes they'll probably ask. Have fun with it. Nothing to feel odd about !

Hi Harmony

I was 16 when I got into GL because it was the year "The Wreck" was on the radio--I called it EFG, you can tell by my screen name that it is my favorite line in that song. I got the album--same thing, I was hoooked, and I never tire of Gord even after 28 years. On "Harmony" I like every song, even the slow ones. No Hotel is the best though!

Welcome, Harmony!

I'm long past my teen years, but I discovered Gord even earlier than you. I was maybe 5 or 6 when I first heard For LOvin' Me, and then the rest of the Lightfoot! album. A few years later, in the mid 70s at age 13, I heard Al Stewart's Year Of The Cat, and fell in love with his music too.

A lot of great artists have come and gone since then, and I have always enjoyed various music styles, but Gord and Al have been my one/two favourites since as long as I can remember.

As far as I'm concerned, you have nothing to feel odd about, but as I have always been called odd, who am I to say?

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I just may try introducing Gord to some of my friends, but I don't think he'll ever be the talk of the whole school, if you know what I mean.

Welcome Harmony!
Nice to see some young people take an interest in Gord's music. I'm sure he will be proud to know that. You picked a great name, "Harmony" is my favourite song!

Back in day (my day, that is)Gord was the talk of the school. I remember that I was always playing IYCRMM and everybody thought it was cool, but nothing really caught on, then he started to appear on tv and he was scruffy, sexy, and had an attitude. Not quite what he's like now. But he was hot! And was the talk of the whole school. I think now he is pretty satisfied with being known as a great singer/songwriter, having loyal fans and a new CD out. Welcome to the group.

It's been awhile but I was in my early teens when I got into Gord. I also love Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Dire Straits, Al Stewart, Brenaked Ladies, Beatles and the Guess Who. But Gord will always be special, who writes better songs? No one!
