what do you think? What song should be the next video, and what should the subject matter be?

Actually, in a sense, Trilogy was one of the earliest and original music videos ever performed. It was commissioned by the CBC for a 1967 New Year's Day special telecast to celebrate Canada's centennial. The first public performance was on this program which you can watch on the CBC Archives and see that, in fact, it really was a "music video!"

Lots of great Gord stuff on this CBC Archives site, by the way.

I think it should be End of All Time. Unfortunately I haven't seen any of Gord's videos, so I don't really know what the style is, but what I see is him obviously wandering and lost, cut to him playing his guitar somewhere alone, maybe in a hotel room, maybe at this house, or on Lake Couchiching! Maybe he approaches a house and rings the bell and a woman answers. I think the whole idea of him approaching a house, hoping to find 'directions' should be consistent throughout, except that maybe he could expand it to houses of government, to churches, to other institutions, etc. Maybe at the very end, he's back in Orillia and he heads into a concert and finishes up the song on stage.

Great ideas! If we can get one idea that sounds consistent with each other, I'll forward it to Linus! After all, we understand him best. Now it's just a matter of what makes sense for sales.

For,"End Of All Time", I see the opening of the video as him getting in a car with an unseen driver. The top is down and after they get in and take off, they drive through the Ontario countryside. One of GL's hits comes on the radio and the driver reaches to turn the station but Gordon stops him saying,"Y'know,I've never really listened to myself the way others do."
They continue on and Gordon closes his eyes and then he drifts off in thought, the song starts and what we see in the sky above them is Gordon at different ages (at different moments in the song) singing "End Of All Time". All the while the car rolls on beneath it. Then just before the end each Gordon Lightfoot (60's-70's-80's-90's & now) all sing the chourus together. (This accomplished by computer imaging of course.)
The song ends and the driver taps GL on the shoulder saying,"Well,we've arrived". Gordon says,"Feels like we arrived ages ago!" The camera then reveals that the driver was actually Bob Dylan!! (He led Gord into folk music, get it? ) They then head into the studio to record a CD together....we wish!

I just played "End of all time" a few times with the lyrics in front of me. I think it deserves a video! Great work "B"

Wow! Thanks everyone! I knew it was pretty good but I didn't think it'd get that big an ovation! I'd like to see that happen too. Big Blue, your idea was just as good too!
The part of my idea I liked best (besides the Dylan part) is what Gord says to him before he turns the station. That setence is a reference to how I feel "EOATime" is the most original sounding GL song ever and nothing like anything he's done before. Again, thanks. ..and Sean, work those connections and let's get the cameras rolling!! Been me,Aurevoir!!
