I've still got a little while to decide but I think my next album is either going to be Shadows or Salute(afterwards Harmony). So what should it be?

SHADOWS! It's got two of Lightfoot's very best tunes: "Shadows" and "All I'm After"! Enjoy!

I know everyone's saying Shadows but by my experience I would go with Salute 1st. That way you have the tougher one to find 1st,then you can get Shadows and really enjoy it even more! Been me,later!

I'm afraid I'd have to go with Salute as well. I can't even say it's one of my favorite albums as a whole, but it has Tattoo, which is one of my two tied for first place ultimate favorite songs.
I'd safely bet you couldn't go wrong with either one, DMD3!

I think Shadows is one of Gord's very best. While I certainly can enjoy Salute, I think it is one of his weaker albums. Shadows is vintage Gord in my opinion. Get that one. It also has excellent production quality.

Shadows. 14 Karat Gold, In My Fashion, Blackberry Wine, Heaven Help The Devil, Shadows & Triangle?? Those are some of his best songs.
Salute is a great album but Shadows is probably one of his best efforts and greatest albums.

Shadows is my preference, but if I were you, I'd start with the UA collection ($14 for a double CD in most stores), so you can hear his older, orginal material. Then work your way through his catalog of CDs.

I've been thinking about that. Maybe I should start with a double CD set. I've still got lots of time to decide though.

Shadows OR Salute? Why not both?

I must agree! "Shadows" is probably the better album, but "Tattoo" from "Salute" is worth the price of admission alone. One of my all time favourites is "Tattoo", a real beauty! "Whispers of the North" is nice too.

Well maybe Shadows first but we've discussed this before and you really need all 19 originals to complete your collection. I like Cathy's idea, start at the beginning and fill in the ones you still need as you can afford them.

Salute! There's not a klunker on the entire album, and I love the title track.

When I didn't have either,I just took the one I found 1st,which happened to be "Salute!" I found Shadows almost 2 weeks later but then again DMD3 is taling about CD's not vinyl. I know when I heard,"Romance" from Songbook,I knew I had to get Salute. Songbook and the live concert are the reasons I went hunting for all his LP's in the 1st place.
We have our opinions, but it's up to "D" to make up his own mind. Let us know how this turns out. Later!

No it's not. We can and will force him to make the purchase that we feel is best for him. It's written in the stars. We half to force him.

IMHO - Shadows.
Title song has one of Gord's all-time greatest lines - "Let me reach out, love, and touch you, let me hold you for a while."
Sigh.
