Ok, 2M2L, after reading your post, I reviewed the albums, looking for the sides that I would consider perfect, which I defined to mean a side on which I found every song completely wonderful. This resulted in the exclusion of some of my favorites, such as side2 2 of IYCRMM because of Your Love's Return and side 1 of Summer Side of Life because of Cotton Jenny. For me, those 2 songs are good but not great.
Anyway, herewith my "perfect" sides: side 2 of Lightfoot!; side 2 of Summer Side of Life; side 1 of Don Quixote; and side 2 of Sundown.

Florian, 2 things--this is a great site and Baby It's Alright has been left the list of songs on that album list (under IYCRMM).

I guess I love SS of L. I once read a review that suggested that Lenny Waronker over-produced it--critics! What do they know!

Last note as I get further afield from the subject--I long to hear Old Dan's Records again! My turntable is long gone and I need to hear Mother of a Miner's Child, Hiway Songs, Farewell to Annabelle, It's Worth Believin', Can't
Depend on Love and all the others.

Second last note farther afield: by golly, Ithink that Gord is coming to my adopted home town of Austin since 1978 next March to play at the Paramount Theater, which is a lovely venue. Let it be true!

Jay,

You and I are really on the same wavelength concerning album sides, although I happen to think that Cotton Jenny is a great song and does not disqualify SSOL side 1 as a perfect side.

Regarding ODR, I keep a turntable set up and ODR upon it or nearby (when DreamStreetRose is on it or some of the material that is out on CD but which I own only in vinyl - including two copies of DonQ). OldDan really has to be the next CD release, although Songbook has filled some of the gap, especially for HiwaySongs.

My personal vinyl collection has all the canon except Shadows and Salute. I've been looking for Shadows in used record stores for years (I missed its release and that of Salute).

Does anyone have any suggestions how I might find a good copy of Shadows and/or Salute? A website or on-line store?
