Honest mistake,no apology needed S.U.iM..It gave me good laugh and thats always a good thing..
I'm actually the one that needs to apologize for my reply in this post, for some reason I was sure that this girl was from Canada but it has been brought to my humble attention that she is actually from Alaska.Close, but yet so far away..sorry

Considering my geographical error, there still seems to be a bit of fun left so I'll give up some more clues...
She posseses many of Gords traits which would be that she writes her own music and lyrics, plays acoustic guitar(taylor)and has her own pretty unique style of fingerpicking/strumming..
I don't know for sure if she married this fella or not but he falls into her catagory of sinewy. He is a fairly famous rodeo cowboy..

Well, I don't know who she's dating or married to, but I do know that at one time she dated Steve Poltz and he fits the description of "her type" that you indicated - as a matter of fact they co-wrote my favorite of her recordings. You are talking about Jewel - right?

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned that chanteuse from Kaybec with a long nose/face. Didn't she wail some song associated with another shipwreck before trying to take over Las Vegas

POP QUIZ: Quick now, without searching the web, how many of you (besides Paddle and me) know who Serge Corbin is? This is a test to see how many of you, off the top of your head, are familiar with this man and what he is known for; so just reply "Yes I know him" or "No I don't." You can go look him up AFTER you reply but don't anybody give it away here until everyone has a chance to play and we'll let everybody know eventually.

Never heard of him but (having looked him up - sorry, a librarian's first impulse) I'd be highly unlikely to know of him anyway, given his specialty.
