Maine has a perfect Lightfoot license plate already... the ring necked loon plate. You can special order it.

You can also get one with a bird or a lobster, but they don't have that special Lightfoot touch.

Talking of special plates reminds me that the special 1967 licence plates issued in Quebec featured different front and rear plate designs. The ones intended for the front had EXPO 67 writ large and the actual licece plate number much smaller. Urban legend had it that the first Quebecker to venture into Maine in 1967 got a parking ticket made out to licence tada tada... you got it!
"expo 67"

so he did not pay it

SUMMERTIME DREAM(ER) (You could at the ER or leave it as is; either way it would make a good tag)

DRIFTER

GOTTA GET AWAY (maybe it won't be too long)

ORDINARY MAN

RESTLESS

RAINBOW TROUT

Those are just some ideas that popped up in my head instantly.

You have a couple of loon plates on the 2nd website, one under Organizations and the other under Miscellaneous. The second one is very nice!
