Was anyone else at the scheduled Seven Springs concert on Saturday? What a storm and what a disappointment. This is the second time in four years I've tried to see Mr. Lightfoot and haven't been able to see him perform either time.

Drove from Cleveland, 2nd time I've tried to see him & I'm 0 for 2. The storm was very nasty & they tried to start @ 9 but I guess the lights were not working & the lightning would not stop. I'm still bummed.

I'm also still disappointed and frustrated beyond words!
I drove all the way from the Twin Cities to see Gordon the first time live. I planned everything to the last detail ( let the grandparents fly in from Germany to make the Babysitter, etc. ) and made sure, the car was checked before we headed to PA. The only thing what still could happen was indeed rain - and it happened. I can NOT believe it.
There was no rain for weeks or even months. Perfect weather before the concert and perfect weather after it, it really is like a bad dream.
I saw the band, when they checked in at the hotel and knew they would have a sound check that afternoon. So I sneeked around the Amphitheater early and actually could follow the Soundcheck. I moved closer every five Minutes and nobody said a thing, just when they were about to finish anyway, somebody chased me away. But at least: I saw Gordon!!! It was an awfully hot day and he actually wore short pants - looked kind of funny but of course, he didn't expect any lurkers... )
I think, what happened that night was an equipment failure due to the Thunderstorm. It rained really heavy and just before it started the covered everthing with Tarp real quick. But my guess is, the wind blew some of it away and everything suffered.
Oh hell, what a bummer, I still haven't recovered yet!
Terry helped after the storm to put the equipment away and was disappointed himself. I was hoping to see the band hanging out at the hotel bar later that night but couldn't spot anybody.
Oh well, one day in my life I WILL see Gordon, damn it.... ( sorry )
I couldn't even spot Brian or Bev - we had to take shelter so quickly. But I hope, everybody got home safely.
We drove 15 hrs. in a row yesterday and were back in the Twin Cities around 1:30 am.

It certainly sounds like everything got nicely soaked and/or affected by lightning.
it does appear to be rather exposed

wait for this animation to start to see the lightning!!
No doubt Chuck Thomas and the stage crew spent much time adapting their set to this configuration and probably cursed mightily
when the concert was curtailed.
I note that so far nobody has said a word on the Newsgroup about the cancellation yet already Wayne has posted on:-
http://www.lightfoot.ca/2005.htm
(August) "20 -Weather cancellation"
I googled unsuccessfully for the quote that Mr Wallacefound and found nothing anywhere not even on the seven springs site.So I am going to repeat my comment that Wayne Francis obviously visits here as a lurker
I also note that he has prematurely added an "S" (for Setlist) link after the Redding venue yet it opens a blank page at present
As I said earlier Susan will be posting a setlist for Reading shortly.
Maybe I'll get her to make a major typo in the running order to see if it is then reproduced verbatim by Wayne
John Fowles
Looking at the rain
Feeling the pain
Of love lost running though
My brain
gorgeously poignant lyrics from:=
http://display.lyrics.astraweb.com:2...ng_at_the_rain
we are now quite chuffed that we decided to give the 7 springs concert a miss but have great synmpathy with those who travelled a long way in vain.
the backstage access looks like it would to have presented little problem for fans but a megaproblem for Big Barry!!

I came from central Ohio to see him play - had second-row seats and everything. They had JUST stamped our tickets at the gate when the delay announcement was made, then we took shelter inside a building nearby while the storm passed. Everyone thought they'd re-start once the worst of it blew by, but no...lightning kept coming. People kept in pretty good spirits, though...one guy sang "Rainy Day People" on the shuttle bus back to the lodge, and a few others joined in half-heartedly. I guess I'll just have to get tickets next season, assuming he'll be touring again

Blake,
Were you in the steel garage right across and slightly below the entrance area?

Iron,
No, though I did see people taking cover there. I was in a building right by the entrance that was blocked off at first, but the security people took down the barriers and let us in just before the rain started. It had bikes and other things stored in it - plenty of chairs though. I think it was one of the best places to be at that point; I felt sorry for everyone trying to gather under the tents!

My sympathies to everyone who had tickets to the cancelled show. What a bummer! I was at the Keswick show last Thursday, and the thought never entered my mind that the show might be cancelled - for whatever reason! Hopefully you can manage to try for another show asap???

I have been lucky. I have lived in this city for 13 years now, and Gord has performed here 3 times. I got to see 2 of those performances (I forget why I had to miss the third).
