Not necessarily mon bon bon ami

The original message board was the Newsgroup, and some fans still prefer to post over there?
It may have been damn quiet there recently. So much so that after 9 whole days with not a single new posting I started a new thread called "new thread" and suggested we discuss the weather which has proved successful.
anyway today Brian Buzz.... has started a genuine new thread subject "July 27/06 Show" at:-
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.m...a2a4ada?hl=en&
when you have read it click on the thread title at the top to reveal the complete thread with so far 3 replies
John Fowles
He even posted the setlist (containing no real surprises)
OK now one of our own Christine has saved the day with her review.

Yeah, from me too, Jesse. It took you 55 or 6 tries to get it right, but you did it. Are you posting from Google or using Outlook Express?

Googles I guess, I dont understand it fully. How do you get a post from here to there.
The reason Im asking is I saw threads, there that were from here, or vice versa.
And if I understand it correctly, everyone there sees your email & everything. Haven't seen anyone with a code name. Do you have to use your real name there????????????????
I haven't fully masterminded ,this one in complete and theres another one. It can drive a person, to start trying walking on walls like the flies do. LOL

you can't the two message boards are completely separate. but several public spirited people notably Char tend to post similar messages on both

not quite true. although google groups require you to enter your email address when joining (so that anybody who wishes to reply to you as the author only can do so). but they very carefully remove part of every full email, address to prevent robots getting them hence your own post in fact shows only lightfoot...@hotmail.com
which is not much use to a robot

No it is entirely optional
there are some people who post using screen names
I recall the wonderfully named poster who called himself "likes to fly Kites"!!

there are in fact several characters who only post on the newsgroup and would not be seen dead over here. Both boards have their good points and bad points. The Newsgroup having been around for 13 years has a fantastic archive of opinions and comment. But you cannot edit or delete posting once made unless you appeal to google.
And binary files like pictures are frowned upon
So J-J keep practising your wall walking prowess
and taking the tablets!!

Hi all,
I haven't posted very much on here but I was at MeadowBrook last night. I felt very fortunate to finally see Gordon in concert after my family and I drove all the way to Seven Springs last year only to be foiled by the weather...and I have to admit, I was nervous when a huge storm swept through after the mid-concert break. It seemed like Mother Nature was following us around!
Anyway, the linked review posted by Mr. Fowles sums it up pretty well: somewhat shaky (but still enjoyable!) first half, then a very strong second half that began with an absolutely wonderful rendition of "Sit Down Young Stranger" - a nice surprise. An audience member had shouted out SDYS earlier, and Gord said, "I don't know...maybe I'll do that one in the second half." And he did!
The only things that marred the concert were the weather (the power went out during "Old Dan's Records" but came back on just seconds later), and the rowdy crowd. That's what happens when you mix alcohol and rain, I suppose...whenever Gordon stopped playing, it was a constant chorus of screaming and yelling, mostly for songs. I felt like telling everyone to just be quiet and enjoy the music, but Lightfoot handled it well..."Songs are like tires," he said to someone, "they need to be rotated. And that one's not in rotation." When one guy shouted "Rock on, Gord!" he chuckled and said, "Thanks, but that won't get you too far." Towards the end he asked, "How are you all doing out there? I mean, do I even have to ask? It's happenin' back there!"
The single encore was, of course, "Rainy Day People." All night he'd been putting special emphasis on the rain-related songs/lyrics as the weather got worse. Fittingly, the lightning and thunder began to move in during "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"...I've never been more powerfully moved by that song than I was last night.
Sorry for rambling on so long, I'll finish up. Looking past the rain and the noisy crowd, it was a fantastic experience that I won't soon forget, and I wish there was a way I could thank Mr. Lightfoot and the band!

You can't really get a post from Corfid to Google. I suppose you could copy and paste it, but that would be quite a chore, trying to keep the replies in order. As John said, some people prefer the newsgroup, some people prefer Corfid, and some people post on both sites. But it's always nice to get some new blood in the newsgroup, to liven things up a little.
Are you using Google to post? I believe you can put in an alias name somehow. I haven't used it for years. If you are using Outlook Express for mail, you can also access Newsgroups through it. To me, OE is much easier to read and reply to, and messages are nearly instantaneous. If you need help setting it up, IM me.
