Hi,Rustico! "No Hotel" is from Gord's CD "Harmony" that came out May 11th of last year! Good choices for fav's though!

Speaking of albums,I have just recently acquired a copy of Early Lightfoot! Yay!!

Now,as soon as I get my record player working again,I'm sure I'll have some new fav's!

Been me,later!

Carefree Highway - Reminds me of waking up in the morning, taking a shower and jumping in the car, heading to a place somewhere far away, not knowing where exactly I am going. Just wherever the wind takes me.....wondering who I might meet on the way.

Wherefore And Why
May I
Cherokee Bend
Sometimes I Wish
Ringneck Loon
and
The Watchmans Gone

The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. After hearing it the first time, I researched the ship. The song makes my hair stand on end and gives me goosebumps. One of the greatest songs ever written...and for a good purpose.

2nd would be The Canadian Railroad Trilogy. Excellent! And, can the man sing! Another "hair-raiser". Gives me chills.

The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is one of my all time favourites. When I was in my early ywenties in the seventies I used to sit and record the song from the radio and write down all the words so that I could sing the song all the way through. I'm now 53 and can still sing the song word for word. I've never forgotten it all these years on. PS I'm in London,England.

The song title was inspired by a bit of conversation he overheard, somebody saying they just loved those old DANCE records, which Gord changed into old DAN's records. Such is creative license, and talent.

What is your favorite Lightfoot Song & Why?

[This message has been edited by Florian (edited February 26, 2000).]

Have been reading the posts with great interest. I seems almost impossible to pick a favourite. They are all so beautiful...all capture the deepest feelings and experiences of human existance. The feelings they convey are so universal, transcending all cultures, and all generations. Singer, composer, guru,
minstrel, hero, and yet one of us. Husband, father, friend, and genuinally beautiful
person. Are we not profoundly lucky to be his fans? Thank you Gord!

Everytime I go to the supermarket, it seems that they are playing Gord's music. , and I have to make sure I stand in the right place under the speakers to hear it all. Today it
was "Carefree Highway". It makes me want to hurry home and put on his music.

Today, because we have snow.....keep thinking of "Song for A Winter's Night", and "Whispers of the North".

Just can't seem to pick a favourite, as I totally love them all. They seem to weave a story of our lives. They are so much a part of life in our family.

Thank you Gord...you are one of a kind. We love you and your music more than you can ever know.
