This thread may meander as you choose,
Shortly after the release of "Endless Wire", my ex-wife adopted a near-feral cat that she named Katy. Reading the review of the album in Rolling Stone magazine, the critic had something like this to say about the song "Daylight Katy":
He may as well have been writing about a cat.
I always liked the song, but the images first evoked by the music were soon replaced by the reviewer's words.

There was a theory on this board a year or two ago that Daylight Katy was indeed a cat. If you visualize it while listening to the song, it's feasible.

I first heard the song "On The High Seas" in concert, but at the time his was singing "On The T.V.". When the album was released, I just attributed the confusion to my poor hearing.
Who was he talking about ?

Don't know about Daylight Katy, but there was a girl in college I called "Midnight Julie."

for years I thought he was talking about a hooker.
And she waits for the man to come
She lives in town with her high-heeled friends
And she knows it's a long way down
But she doesn't have to get up in the morning
great song, love the music with it.
hmmm Daylight Katy a cat
Bitter Green a dog...interesting.

what style(s) of dance did she practice? I am not pro, but I've studied several dance forms. Been dancing my whole life.

My interpretation was close. I saw Katy has a high-strung "rich bitch" who lived the high life without a care or concern.

She was probably a girl friend from college when he was in LA.

I think so that was me. When he said "Daylight Katy if you can't follow me go home" or something like that, I thought it was a song about his cat.
