Hi to all,

first: English is not my first language
second: I like Gordon Lightfoot and want to know more about him and his native Country Canada.
I have been in Canada for three times and will be back this July (Ontario).
Please tell me where I can find more about Gordons bio.
It would be nice to learn more about the members here - please give me a little help.
My favorite song of Gordon is "Did she mention my name".

My own limited German experience concerns a brief visit many moons ago to Hamburg en route for Copenhagen when as a poor student with two other french students we felt hungry and we decided that the place for a cheap meal would be the main Hamburg station buffet but how were we to know that there a "hamburger steak" was an expensive cut??!!

have you any ideas on why Gordon is/was so obviously popular in Germany I say obviously because of the availabity of the early Lightfoot United Artists albums on the three wonderful Bear Family reissues on CD and the fact that my Lightfoot CD collection (mainly UK purchased) includes several made and printed in Germany examples

Yes, you found out I'm from Germany. I live in a little village near Berlin in the state of Brandenburg.
First time I heard Gordon Lightfoot was nearly 30 years ago or somewhat. We could hear at this time Radio Canada International in German - and they played songs of Lightfoot.But it wasn't easy to find out more about this famous singer in the former GDR(Eastern Germany).Today I have a computer and a searching machine - so I discovered this great site.
First time I have been in Canada in 1991 (Quebec and Ontario).
Second time I crossed Canada by train from Nova Scotia to British Columbia.
Third time I have been in the Yukon and Alaska and Ontario too.
And in July I will be in Ontario and US again.
I have heard old tapes from RCI these days and I have heard Lightfoot again - the next step was going to the computer and looking for more and: here I am.

thank you for the interesting links. It reminds me a little bit to the movie "Canadian Bacon" of Michael Moore with Alan Alda and John Candy. Do you know this movie ? The most Germans didn't understand the deeper sense of it - but I did because I have been in Canada and a little bit in US.
I will compare Canada and US this summer. So I will see Ontario,Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois,Missouri and Indiana.
By the way...I ordered my first Gordon Lightfoot CD this weekend - looking forward to it !
