ROTFLMAO!!!!! You beat me to it! I was going to bring up the "pregnant chads" but you just about covered all the bases. DARN! Score one for you!

Thanks for the good laugh! You lightened up my evening!

Stay loose, eh?

Gaze up through the trees

child ..."

Not strictly on topic, and not P.C., but did you hear that when the Japanese heard we were having problems with an election, they offered to send Viagra?

(you have to pronounce "election" with a bad Japanese accent)

I saw on the news that the Canadian election went smoothly, a winner was declared, and millions of ballots were hand counted in 4 hours. Can we PLEASE borrow your counters??

Just for now I'd like to rest in the shade of a maple tree. To the blue Canadian sky I'll say a prayer to the world out there!!

Paul JB & Scott Mac,
I have to agree with you, if Gore ends up stealing this Election....I'm moving to Canada!! lol

Seriously, This Election has gotten WAY out of hand & I hope & pray the US Supreme Court does the right thing to end this farce. The correct ruling for the sake of democracy is to uphold the Law...to say the Florida State Supreme Court was wrong. To go back to the original 7 days for recounts & 10 days for Military/Overseas ballots. Whatever the votes were as of midnight 11-17-00 should be certified by Florida Secretary of State. Three strikes and your out Algore!!!

Hey, folks - if you want to argue the election take it over to Small Talk.

I won't bother to get to where I stand on the subject. This isn't the place.

I've enjoyed all your lyrical responses.

I really was not searching for any truly political talk for one side or the other, only some levity directed at both sides, and at ourselves, by restricting the dialog to GL lyrics. Whether or not I agreed with the political subtext, each lyric quoted gave me a chance to hear Gord's song again in a new and sometimes ironic light.

So let's keep it lyrical -- so that no one feels gored or too bushed to continue the thread.

"see the judge upon the bench who tries the case as best he can."

Thanks, folks. Sorry for the double post - things were acting very strange on the site earlier today.

It was only yesterday
when I heard the teacher say
patiently
One and two make three...

"If people could look into each others eyes,
What a wonderful place this world would be.
All strife would end,
We could start again,
And dreams like these should not pass on"

"If you see me smile,
Don't think I'm actin' strange.
I got my just reward for all my pain.
If you see me on the T.V. actin' proud,
Please understand if I don't talk too loud."

"Nothin' here but grains of sand.
Nothin' much worth savin'.
Still we've all got problems of
Our own to bear,
But still we share tomorrow,
Could get better,
Than today...."

"There were things that were said.
There were things that were done.."

"To all you heavy rounders,
with a headache for your pains,
Who dread the thoughts of goin'
'round the bend...."

"Does anyone know
Where the Love of God goes,
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?..."
And days....and weeks....and....

Rob

Sometimes a broken dream
will make you sad
or make you mean
Sometimes things
Ain't as bad
As they might seem
...Life's broken dreams

Another stalemate, the Supreme Court has put a halt to 2much's demand for a recount. Here's what the Vice President just said:

These are just the simple facts
I will relate to you
Though they are not connected
Each and every one is true
If they seem a bit untidy
Well unraveling them is fun
I will not stand corrected
I have not harmed anyone
I just let it ride
Ride let it ride
Leave on the evenin' tide
Just let it ride

When I listen to my heart
I sometimes fail to find
One sane and simple answer
On the bright side of my mind
Even when I'm sleeping
I can't seem to unwind
I just let it ride

And the winner is ....

"See the judge upon the bench, who tries the case as best he can."

5-4 Judicial knockout.

We can reflect on the nobility of Gore's concession speech:
"I've played your game, obeyed your rules, the best that I know how, gotta get out ...."

Or we can focus on the graciousness of President-elect Bush acknowledging that he will need to earn our respect.

In either event, it's time to close ranks, no matter what our differences. Time to support the President-Elect.

We all have 2Much2Lose if we don't start to bridge the Walls between us.

To the tune of "For Lovin Me". In honor of the winner

That's what you get for voting me
That's what you get for voting me
Everything you had is gone
As you can see
That's what you get for voting me

I'm not the kind to stick around
Keeping promises I'm not bound
Cause lying is my stock and trade
I'm lying on
I won't think of em when I'm gone

So don't you yell and scream at me
Cause I ain't the prez you thought I'd be
I've done a hundred more like you
So don't be blue
I'll take a thousand before I'm through
Now they're you go you whined again
Now they're you go you whined again
But then some day when your country is on the mend
My bro will pass this way again

That's what you got for voting me

Look into his shining eyes and if you see a ghost don't be surprised......Listen to the strings. That jangle and dangle while the old guitar sings.

The lake it is said never gives up her dead, when the gales of November come early.
