I just want to say how pleased I am to find a sight about Gordon Lightfoot. He has to be one of a kind. I grew up in Montana and had access to Canadian radio where I listened to his songs. I had the privilege of meeting him at an Iowa concert a few years ago. He is a gentle, soft spoken man. Some day I would like to sit down with him and talk. Kindred spirits only come along once in a lifetime. Agree?

I agree Grace.Gord's lyrics manage to verbalize my inner most thoughts. To any of us who have given body, soul, and spirit to a lover can relate to that famous Gord line.

By the way, did she/he mention my name?
Did he mention my name just in passing?

Don't we all wonder if we have left a lasting impression on those we let linger in our souls if only for awhile. How does Gord always know just what we are thinking?

Isabella--touche! The older I get the more I realize that we are all put on this earth to make someone else happy. Sometimes we give unconditionally of ourselves and at others, if we are lucky, those around us give unconditionally to us...just as Mr. Lightfoot has done. So many life experiences--by the oceans; a cup of coffee in the early morning rain; telling your love theimportance of him/her in your life....GL makes you think about your life and tugs at your heart strings to remember all of these little things that have brought you where you are today. I am a part of a singing group at church...our leader loves GL as much as I do...he wanted to write different lyrics to The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, so I sat down one day and did that. I hope that I am fortunate to someday sit and share it with GL...if not in this lifetime, maybe the next. Have a wonderful day Isbella.

Hi Grace,

Thanks for the inspirational words. You did make me have a great day.Would love to see the words you wrote to the song.Care to share them?I am a wandering gypsy poet but write song lyrics for folk music groups in Canada, much in the vein of Gord.Where in the world do you live.I am Canadian to the core but am writing now in Ireland.
If you love Gord's music , may I suggest www.garnetrogers.com
Another great Canadian singer/songwriter and a good friend of mine.There are sound clips there. Listen to All there is and get your Kleenex out:}

Isabella--Good morning. IT is 7:08 a.m here in America. I live in Iowa--it is right in the middle of the U.S. But, like you, I feel a connection with Canada. I grew up in Montana really close to the Canadian border. What do you do in Ireland? (Besides your GL fanship) Below are the words I penned. I have been writing poetry since junior high school--some 25 yars ago. Love to hear your thoughts on what I have written.

THE JOURNEY OF FAITH
by Grace

The journey of faith begins in our hearts
Long before we are born.
In Heaven alone do our spirits commune
With the great Creator God.

God puts within us this mysterious plan
Of searching and seeking His will.
Our hearts are upturned and our minds they
are burned
With this desirous journey to learn.

The path it is paved with hundreds of roads
Each going in one said direction.
Our souls want to do what is right, what is
true
While our minds lead us on to deception.

God gave us a way in the life of His child
Jesus, earth's carpenter's son.
The Spirit breathed life into Mary's dear boy
The King, God's Precious One.

His life here on earth was short, so it seems
As he taught God's plan to all men.
Those who believed became those who ran
In the face of the tragic denial.

Some called him Jesus, some called him
friend
Some called him fake and a liar.
He bore all this sin, yet couldn't get in
To the hearts of those whom He loved.

The bridge over sin to the Celestial shore
Was built by Christ's death on the cross
No longer the Law enslaves us all
We're freed by our faith in the Son.

Our journey of faith begins in our hearts
Long before we are born
In Heaven alone does our spirit commune
With our great Creator God.

Gotta run to work...Enjoy your day and may the Son shine in your heart
