Remembering the '02 Keswick show, Gord is the man!

I wondered if there's anyone who attended the Keswick show last year. I hope Gord will tour again soon and comes close to the Philadelphia area. Just seeing him play and sing is a real treat. Even watching Terry play lead is cool too. I was happy he played "The Watchman's Gone" and "Never Too Close" cause that is one of my favorites. Now I just hope to hear him play "Slide On Over" Hope your feeling better Gord, come play for us again and play "Slide On Over" and "Whispers Of The North" Those I'd like to hear!

I was at the Keswick show and the Count Basie theatre show in NJ as well. Both shows were wonderful. I travelled from Toronto for them. It was kind of odd to see Gord perform somewhere other than at Massey or at home in Orillia....
It was extra wonderful because Gord shook hands with me and said he remembered me from Orillia almost two years earlier.!!!

I was at Keswick and the other NJ shows last April. Trenton was my favourite because he came out after the show, into the auditorium, and stayed to chat with a few of us. I had flown in from the UK earlier and was jetlagged and my luggage had
gone on to Las Vegas. Gord was so sweet and encouraging, assuring me I would get my luggage back. (and I did, next day). During
the show he sang Christian Island for me ...
'This is for Jetlagged', he explained, while I jumped up and down like a school kid.
Yep, that was the highlight of my Gord shows last year.

There was a bunch of corfid.com posters at that show. My wife and I sat in the first row next to "Cathy" and "vlmagee". Right behind us were "jbt" and "lavendar" who now posts as "formerlylavendar" since someone stole her name. We also met "char" and "silverheels" who have also replied to you. Since we didn't know how to get on the "A list" and get backstage jbt and lavendar introduced us to "alley dwelling" where after a long while I got to get my picture taken with Gord. He was very nice but didn't have much time to spend outside that night. I hope the next concert that we're all at someone will show us the secret to getting backstage now that we're not strangers anymore. You are right about it being a great show. There are a number of topics posted here before and after that date about the show.

I have attended the Keswick show for the last 3 years. My fondest memory is of Tommy he is in a wheelchair and communicates with what is called a liberator. Since my wife worked with a child who used one we decided to go over and talk with him. We found out he has been a Gord fan for 25 years.During the concert Gord acknowledged him in the audience. So I told my wife on the way home for 2 hours Gords music set his spirit free.I wish I'd known you guys were in the audience love to meet you Alex

billw is right. we all went to the keswick tavern after the show for a drink (i had a guinness- mmmmm) and then went to the "alley" with 20 or so other fans for a very brief post-concert meeting/chat with gord. my sister, formerlylavender, and i have gone to a few gord shows at the keswick. we are only about an hour away and love it there.
last year, we saw gord the week before in lancaster and both agreed the keswick show was much better. gord was more relaxed and spontaneous, as we joked about afterward.
i'm sure i can speak for my sister when i say we will definitely be there, front row and center (fingers crossed), when gord makes his triumphantly healthy return. and i'm sure billw will be there too, camera in hand.

For the record, I did indeed have a drink with jbt, lavendar and my wife at the Keswick Tavern, but let the record show that it was Diet Coke. The bartender would not take my money, nice town! So I left it on the bar as a tip. details, details...

I had a blast at that show. Bill didn't have a clue who I was, but I suspected he was Bill, because he had posted a few days earlier that he had front row center seats. I kept thinking, "No way. Not unless you plan to sit on my lap." As it turns out, he was right next to me. He gave me a pretty strange look when I turned and said, "Are you Bill from Corfid?"

That "strange look" was actually my version of delight. I counted about 6 "are you Bill?s" that night. My wife was starting to get a little concerned that I knew everyone there and they were all from the 'net. You rarely here nice wholesome stories, as this one is, on the news about people who meet on the internet. But I couldn't have been happier to put some faces to these handles. I hope to see you all again some day soon. And now that she's convinced we're all "normal", so does my wife. And now I owe her front row seats for Diamond Rio or Nickel Creek.

Very nice responses guys. I am probably the youngest out of you all, lol. I am only 24. I am curious to know how many of you have actually met Gord. It must've been really cool if you did. I was in the 4th row, and could see and hear him perfectly. Hope he is recovering so he can come back soon.

I think you'll be surprised to learn that a whole lot of us have met and talked to Gord. He is the nicest and most considerate of any celebreties/performers of his stature. Endless: It's not really that difficult meeting Gord unless you are at a really big theatre with mafia type security. Despite his fame and what not, most people don't bother to hang around the back door after a concert because it's not "cool" Last time I met him ( 2001) there were only 5 people waiting to see him. 2 months later when Jann Arden showed up there were like 40 others besides myself.

Actually at 24, you were born well after his biggest hit came out, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and it would probably blow his mind someone your age likes his music as most of his fans are in to their 40's and up.

Who knows that little baby could be a famous
singer someday. Obviously she has good taste
already. Gord's mother always said that Gord used to sing himself to sleep when he was just a toddler. (But, then our grandaughter does that, also, but she seems

In 1984 when I was a week away from having my first child I attended (with my obstetrician's permission) a Lightfoot concert at Massey Hall. The baby was kicking so much I had to stand at the back of the hall for the whole show but I wouldn't miss a Lightfoot show for any reason!

My doctor received the newly released Lightfoot album as a thank-you gift!
That child is now a couple of months away from being 19 and he is NOT a fan of Lightfoot at all. Thankfully my 15 year old daughter is and has even helped Val with Lyrics on her site and has met many of the "Net People" as well as the man himself! Once when she was a toddler and again in July 2000 in Orillia.
I'm doing daycare for a 15 month old who loves to dance to Lightfoot as well!
I'm doin' my best to pass the torch!

I was at that concert too, where were you seated? I had tickets for the Saturday concert, but of course I didn't go. But it did give me an extra day to see the sights. It is a very beautiful area. I stayed at the Highwayman Inn and the people there were great.
