Speaking of Eric Clapton (what?!) I think I'd like to hear GL do Wonderful Tonight..although Clapton does do it beautifully...
Started reading this thread and din't realize I picked it up from the beginning, but you guys (us guys) are NUTS!!! This is a great site.
Aside to MMB: It's lovely that you can be so gracious about "Elizabeth." I'll stick with the others..no cloning..give me the real thing...LOL
And Frank, you are hysterical. Keep getting lost in the wrong threads, you are too funny!

this may seem CRAZY...but i would like to hear "two more bottles of wine" by Emmy-lou Harris.....I love that song.
------------------
-----and as i wander to the cities and the towns, i get so lonesome knowin' you could be around. and when the show is over there's a holiday motel, another empty bottle, and another tale to tell----

Storm, I LOVE Two More Bottles of Wine..that's a great album, Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town....how do you like her duet with Willie Nelson on "One Paper Kid"? I think it's fantastic...that album has a lot of good "road songs" on it too...great thought! (Oops, am I off the topic? Don't send the ng police after me, I'm new too!)

Storm, I like your taste! LOL
How about "The L&N Don't Stop Here Anymore," the version Michelle Shocked does...that's a great song and I think Gord would do it beautifully...with help from Terry of course!

I have a couple of songs to add to this great list.Jesse Winchester's "Yankee Lady" and Harry Chapin's "Taxi".The first is more lyrical and wistful, the second is more raw and gritty but both are great stories that Gord could take to another level.

Last Thing On My Mind - Tom Rush
Char
It's a lesson too late for the learning, made of sand, made of sand, in the wink of an eye my soul is turning,
in your hand, in your hand.
Are you going away with no word of farewell,
Will there be not a trace left behind,
Well I could have loved you better,
I didn't mean to be unkind,
You know that was the last thing on my mind.
Well you got reasons a-plenty for going,
This I know, this I know
And the weeks have been steadily going
Please don't go, please don't go.
Are you going away with no word of farewell
Will there be not a trace left behind
Well I could have loved you better
I didn't mean to be unkind
you know that was the last thing on my mind.
As we walk on my thoughts keep on tumbling, round and round
round and round
And underneath our feet the subways rumbling,
underground, underground.
Are you going away with no word of farewell, Will there be not a trace left behind
I could have loved you better
I didn't mean to be unkind
You know that was the last thing on my mind.
As I lie in my bed in the mornin
Without you
without you
Every song in my heart dies a'bornin
Without you
Without you
Are you going away wwith no word of farewell
Will there be not a trace left behind
I could have loved you better
I didn't mean to be unkind
You know that was the last thing on my mind.
It's a lesson too late for the learning
Made of sand
made of sand
In the wink of an eye my soul is turning
In your hand
In your hand.
Are you going away with no word of farewell And will there be not a trace left behind
I could have loved you better

That is a great great song. I first heard the Peter Paul and Mary version and that's the one I got to know. Their harmonies are so amazing....
Cat Stevens was also one of my all-time favorites; and Carly Simon, Simon & garfunkel..I'd like to hear Gord sing Morning Has Broken...

This is a beautiful song. I have it by Tom Paxton - saw him perform it several times
in concert too. Just gorgeous.

Dear Char,
Again, you bring up a song that was stored in the back of my brain. This is one of my favorites from the 60's. I know you are ten years younger but we share the same taste in music. Thank you. Isn't that song "Beautiful"
Betty
