My favorite song? Thats a tough question to answer. I guess it depends on my mood. sometimes when I'm in the mood for something more upbeat I'd say SSOL, or "Bend In The Water". Sometimes I feel more in the mood for some of his classic folk songs like "Minstrel Of The Dawn", or "CRT". I honestly don't think I could single out any one song inparticular and say It's my favorite. There all just too damn good. How bout you Wes , what's your favorite?

My wife's name was Lynda and the marraige was on the rocks, to say the least. Somebody yelled out, "Do Linda," and he did. Man was she pissed. When we got home she hunted down my album with the song and busted in about a hundred pieces. The lady suffered from very low self esteem

hey I've got one you all of you. In the Quiz the WRECK is 6:28. But I was looking at the album, not the CD and it's 5:20 long and the last line is "Superior they said never gives up her dead....." Funny I never noticed that before. Anyone have any insights?

In February 1976, GL was at the Front Row Theatre here in Cleveland for 5 shows in 3 days. Yes, that's right. One show Friday, two on Saturday and two on Sunday.

He looked great on Friday and was really getting into it. After he finished "If You Could Read My Mind" the place went crazy and right in the middle of the applause GL went back into the last chorus again;

"I don't know where we went wrong but the feelin's gone and I just can't get it back".

Then the place went really wild. I have never seen him do that again and I still get goosebumps thinking about it now.

Some people have been whinning lately that GL doesn't sound the same as he did thirty years ago.

I have been to as many concerts as just about anyone at this site and believe me, the concerts now are better than the ones thrity years ago.

I only have a little tidbit to add. Last year at Meadowbrook in Rochester Hills, Mich. The show was great, the sun was sinking into the treeline. The humidity went from thick to non- existent, a near perfect night. The storm that was forcasted that night, drifted elsewhere. Gord was sounding great. Then it was somewhere in the second verse of "Song for a winters night", I turned my attention to Heffernan on Keys for a second. I hear this loud, raspy, bizzare sound coming from the stage and Gord stopped singing. I quickly looked over at Gord and he was bent over, and coughing. Lord only knows what thoughts went through my mind then.
Even the crowd gasped for a second. Then GL straightens up, with a big smile. As the chorus started, he goes to mic and says, "Sorry folks, I just swallowed a fly!" Then he continued on.... Afterwards, I was actually pretty funny. Of course, to appreciate it, you would probably have to be there. Al from Brighton, Mich.

1. The Massey Hall concert idea sounds great! My wife and I saw him there once in the 70's. It reminds me of a Shakespearean Theater...I guess people were smaller then.
I know you are in Cleveland, Hamburg NY wouldn't be a bad pit stop, we are about 10 minutes from the NYS Thruway(Interstate 90).

2. I remember seeing him with Leona Boyd at Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo. Don't remember the exact date but it was in the 70's too. I remeber seeing him with a lady who sang but I don't remember her name. She related that the only problem with touring with Gord was that she didn't have the opportunity to do his songs because he did them. She did do Cobwebs and Dust because she said he wasn't doing it on the tour. Could this have been Leona Boyd.

3.Florian..Great response to what a 'Florian' is.

4. My concert story; In the early 70's they never let you take pictures at Gord's concerts. (My brother-in-law said it was because his image was a commodity and a source of revenue for him and Gord wanted to control it.) Anyway my brother-in-law smuggled a camera into the concert hall and snapped a picture during the concert. As soon as he took the picture a security gaurd came running over and while shaking his night stick in my brother-in-law's face told him if he takes another picture he would be removed from the concert hall. Needless to say he didn't take anymore pictures.

Well I have places to go and people to see!

I believe the lady that Gord had with him was Colleen Peterson. She has sinced passed away. She was a friend of his and a folk performer here in Ontario. Liona Boyd toured with Gord also but she plays classical guitar and doesn't sing.
I always took pics of Gord at Massey during the 70's and 80's. No problems from the camera police!

She had a lady's group with Sylvia Tyson, Shirley Eikhard I believe and another woman and their sound was beautiful. Sylvia and the others still perform with a new member now. Shirley Eikhard wrote Bonnie Raitts - Let's Give em Somethin To Talk About.

I so enjoyed the concert in Troy in March of this year. We had terrible seats, up in oxygen heaven, but we did get to hear Gordon sing again. The time flew by and the concert seemed to last just minutes, even though it was two hours long. I am so looking forward to hearing him again at the Majestic Theater with the best seats possible.
The last time I had went to see a concert of Gordon, we had fifth row center seats. There was an attractive lady sitting along in front of us. After intermission the lady did not return. After seeing Char's picture on mail e-mail I realized that it was Gord's wife. Who else would not come back to a fourth row center seat. This was a number of years ago and I think it was before Meredith was born. I look forward to also seeing him in Humphrey's in San Diego in August when I go to visit my daughter. Has anyone been to Humphrey's? We have 17th row seats.

No, I didn't mean Char is married to GL. I meant that when I saw the picture of Gord and his lovely family, it was his wife was the person who left the fourth row seat. Sorry I was unclear.
