If Gord was to record an Album of other peoples songs, what would you like to see on it?

As mentioned in another topic, Kenny Rankin's "I Love You", and "The Eye of the Eagle". Both fabulously melodic, haunting and stirring. THAT would really get the corpuscles a goin'!

Hey Frank,

Good to see your post, it's been a while. I would love to hear Gord record Rodney Crowell's Acoustic version of "Still Learning How To Fly". I'm sure most people here aren't familiar with the song. For that matter, I think you and Steve(fezo)may be the only folks familiar with Rodney Crowell
But he does write some wonderful songs - this is just one of many.

"Life's been good, I guess.
My ragged old heart's been blessed
with so much more then meets the eye.
I've got a past that's hard to forget
but you ain't seen nothing yet,
I'm still learning how to fly."

I ADORE Rodney Crowell!!! He is a wonderful lyricist and song stylist/singer. Maybe a Hal Ketchum song or a Radney Foster tune?
I love Gord singing GORD... as much as I enjoy "I used to be a Country Singer" etc. I love it so much more when Gord has written it. It's an addiction and I'm not goin' to no 12 step programme!
LOL

I'd like to hear Gord do a couple of John Denver songs. Can't you just hear him singing "Calypso" and "The Eagle and the Hawk"? "Follow Me" is another one I think he could do justice to. And haven't any of you wondered how Gord would do the two rarities in Songbook (the boxset) if he'd recorded them today? Just a thought.

Frank, you say the nicest things, thanks
Regarding Steve, you're right...knowledge and good taste. You should check out samples from his CD (you can get the URL to his web page from his profile). I have it - very enjoyable. (Steve, I'll send my bill along, LOL)

Char, I can't believe I've found another Rodney fan! I idolize him and have for 20 years. IMHO there's no one better (he and Gord are tied in my heart and mind).

Mary Ann, I certainly can hear Gord singing John Denver - especially, "Follow Me".

Yeah Rodney fans! Another texas song/songwriter that Gord could cover: "Homegrown Tomatoes" by Guy Clark...that would be a hoot!

I still think Sawyer Brown should cover "Old Dan's Records".

Hey, Frank, Janice ...you're making me blush.....

This is cool..we've managed both Radney and Rodney! Talk about good taste!

On Radney - how about "Old Silver?" You'd e hard pressed to beat Radney's own vresion, but if anyone was gonna pull it off.....
