do you listen to most often?

My tastes are diverse and, just like my favorite Gord tunes and albums change from week to week (or day to day), my other favs do likewise. At the moment I'm heavy into some old favorites from the early 70s...Nick Drake, David Ackles, John Dawson Read, Dylan. Drake and Ackles, of course, are gone from this world. For all anyone knows Read may be too, as nobody seems to have heard or seen of him in the past 25 years. Of this group, only Dylan and Gord keep on. Let's hear about some others!

At the moment, Alison Krauss.
I've also been known to zone out on Stan Rogers, Kris Kristofferson, Dylan and John Prine. Also, Kathy Mattea and Don Williams.
And a relatively unknown guitarist named Phil Volens.
Then I get into the fiddling mood and play a compilation of traditional tunes that I've collected along the way.
When I get really wound up, I listen to ZZ Top.

I'll limit my choices to 2 male and 2 female.First longtime female favourite(we'kinda had a bit of a thing going on for quite some time,but there is a slight possibility that only one of us is aware of it)Alison Krauss.Her voice just melts me and I've always had a thing for bluegrass style.I'll have to hold out a bit on #2 to se if anyone on the "I did'nt beleive it" post figures it out.
# one after Gord is Alan Jackson.I like most of his songs and his laid back style.I can't get into the Big show scenes with all the fireworks,trapeze acts,dancing,smashing guitars etc.
2nd would be,for now anyway,Dave Mathews.. Though I really don't care much for his whole band scene,I really like his solo acoustic work.Very talented singer/songwriter.Thats the kind that get my attention.The heck with all that glitter...

Yes, I am very familiar with Alan Stivell - he has worked with many of our Welsh (and Welsh language) folk musicians and is an icon here.

And my (other) troubadours? No-one has mentioned Tim Buckley yet!

And then there's Brendan Perry (of the awesome "Dead Can Dance") and, of course, Lisa Gerrard. Their music is so important to me, and never far away from me!

Oh, yes! Alan Stivell is such a hero here! Just his name means so much! Yes, such a deep-rooted Celtic sensibilty - but also such a living, vibrant one too! If you mentioned Alan Stivell you would not get such a "gormless" stare if you spoke to the Welsh speaking community here! And it's so wonderful to be in contact with "cousins" from "Kernow"!

But GL?!? Um ... what I usually get (at best) is "Is he still alive?" or (at worst - and from my brother too!) "he died twenty years ago, didn't he?" ... oh, um ....! But I'm working at it! I sometimes think I could not have survived without those tracks of some twenty years ago. Well, who really knows? And now?!? Well, I'm older, and perhaps wiser - but I'm still here! And still listening!

And I also love Francesco Benozzo - have you (any of you!) heard anything he's recorded?

How could I have left out my flavourite picker/comedian?? If there are no objections I'll set it up as another little brain teaser.The heck with that,I'll do it anyway.
There's no vocals or lyrics,just guitar and sometimes some light percussion.Not only is he an awesome guitarist,he is also a natural comic.During his live shows he usually sets up a selection with a story of it's inspiration etc.and your usually still laughing by the time he gets to playin..
For anyone who might even as of yet have a clue,this should give it away:
I'd been enjoying this fella's work long before I ever knew of John Fowles,but ever since I met John at a Gordon show in Trenton N.J.,I always think of Sir John every time I so much as even think of this artist.I would even venture to guess that John and He may have some related kromastones......
