I've seen the set lists Gord's been playing. All his big hits are included but Carefree Hwy.
What's up?

He's played that song in concert many times, perhaps he has put that song to bed for awhile?

I believe he's only doing the songs where he can not only comfortably hit all the notes, but, do them well. So... dunno about Carefree Highway... perhaps he just hasn't done it yet. It's also a matter of phrasing and breath control. If a certain song has long phrases, it could be difficult. Ultimately, I don't know the answer as to why he hasn't done it yet. These are the first shows in his new tour... there's time!!

Maybe he should write a Route 66 song because he's 66. (Duh).

Gary,Carefree Highway is mainly located near the small town of Carefree a few miles north of Phoenix,Arizona. Phoenix is where I'm at now and the highway is about 15+ miles from where i am now.
It's a pretty good stretch of road!

Patti, the town of Carefree Arizona is on that road, hence the name. That is where Dick Van Dyke lived (maybe still lives).

very interesting. I must make a correction. unless i mis-read the site, the song was released in 1974 making it 28 years earlier. still it's very nice. i've always thought of visiting the desert areas of the SW.
