Legend Lightfoot ready to hit the road
By joe warmington

"I AM looking forward to it."

Those were the words from Canadian music legend Gordon Lightfoot last night on his upcoming four concerts at Massey Hall.

Looking forward to it, eh? He's not the only one.

But first, last night, he was out enjoying his daughter Meredith's 11th birthday at Bigliardi's on Church St. -- exactly one week to the night, May 18, when he'll be on stage for the first of four sold-out shows on Shuter St.

What a comeback -- especially since he battled a serious health crisis a couple of years back. Now the superstar is back out on the road in Canada and in the United States to rave reviews and lots of cheering fans. "It's going great," he said. "We just got back from 10 shows on the road."

He'll hang around town this week before driving himself to his big shows at Massey Hall next week.

Meanwhile, his daughter was all smiles last night herself -- enjoying a good time with dad and drawing a picture for Scrawler. Her goal is to someday be an artist.

Talent runs in the family.
