Dear Bill,
even though i cannot be there in NYC as planned, you make me feel like i was there.
You've been a tru friend to me and i'll be always thankful to you; and i'm sure that our meeting at a Gord's show it's only delayed.
I see that Gord is planning more dates for the 2006, so i'll keep lookin' at that!
See you soon Bill!

Max

PS Hey, remember that you have an invitation to Florence.....

I'll just add a few thoughts as well. I'm not sure why, but I didn't have quite as much difficulty hearing him in the first set as everyone else did. The sound was quite a bit better in the second set, though.

Did anybody catch the fun lyrical mistakes in "Watchman"? He just kept going though - didn't miss a beat. I was so glad he played that one. In fact, I was more pleased with the song selection in the first set as opposed to the second, and I was thrilled to hear "Carefree Highway."

The two seats behind us had been empty throughout the first set. Luckily, the two teenage girls who held the tickets showed up for the second set, just in time to talk all the way through it. How pleasant.

Anyway, all in all, great show. I thought he nailed CRT, and Beautiful and IYCRMM were the other highlights, in my opinion.

Max,

My sister wanted me to thank you for the use of your seats. Now she wants to meet you also so maybe we will just have to make that trip someday. I agree that our meeting at a Lightfoot show is only 'delayed'. See you soon !

Iron - I think it's usually set up against the wall that you would face as you walk in. When you walk in, there's a concession stand on your right, then you present your ticket, walking straight there are stairs up to the restrooms on your left, the theater on the right, if you keep walking straight past that, there's a little bar set up. I think this year they finally put up signs to keep quiet during the performance. It really had gotten bad or maybe I'm just too sensitive.

Long River,

That's quite good recon of the Keswick.

Iron,

He's exactly right but it's the kind of thing you might not even notice if you're concentrating on finding your seats. Actually the existence of said bar was what helped me indentify jbt and formerlylavender back in 2001. I think it should be moved to the concession area or combined with it but I don't run the place, LOL.

As far as last week's Town Hall show and Lightfoot's voice, well, I have been going to his shows since 1972. That was then and this is now and I'm just very happy to see him alive and well. At his age and with what he has been through the last few years, the show served as a testament to this man's will and fortitude. The performance reflected that benchmark of perfection he and his band have always been known for. It was a fine show and it was great to see him ambling across the stage once again.

I had a seat in the back of the house and thought the sound was fine for both sets. The maroons who did all the yelling must have thought they were at a rock show. As Lightfoot said, "this is an acoustic band". You have to listen.

As far as nailing a song, I would say "If you could read my mind" was close to pitch perfect.
Within a certain range, his voice has not changed.

For those of you who waited outside after the show to see Lightfoot and the band, they did not leave the building til 11:30. I'm glad I hung around. I had never met Lightfoot and thought this may be my last chance. I Walked up to him as he was walking out the door. As there were not many people around [there was a large crowd earlier] Lightfoot was very nice to me and quite accommodating. We talked for a moment and he then signed a 1972 photo of him and Dylan arm in arm. Yes, I came prepared. He seemed to enjoy seeing the picture and wrote a nice personalized inscription on the matting. He and the band also signed my Sundown album cover. As I told Rick Haynes, "Summer side of life" was my favorite, but the cover had coffee stains on it.

What a wonderful night!
