Like the Minstrel Man, I'm going to have some showdowns of my own. Unlike Minstrel Man, these showdowns are going to be the entire albums vs. each other, not the songs. (Also, like Minstrel Man, only "I" can start showdowns. :D ) You'll also know mine from his because I'll spell the number, not just type in a number.

Not surprising that you'd compare the 2 1990's CD's.
My vote's not surprising either.
"Waiting For You"
As I've posted elsewhere,I only "really" like 1/2 the songs on "Painter". WFY,is more like the kind of Gordon Lightfoot recording I look for. Some fun tunes, some "thinkers" tunes and a touch of the unusual.

(I'm starting off on an easy pick; they'll get harder. )

I'll go with APPT.
Although having fewer "good" songs than WFY, the 3 standouts make it more desirable.

Waiting For You wins by a hair. I just like the song selection better.

I really like Waiting For You. It was Gord's first album in quite some time and he had gone back to a more natural, simple folk sound that had begun to disappear in the over-production of the late 80's, early 90's. The songs on WFY are very strong and hold up well. I consider WFY to be one of Gord's best.

I can't vote on this one, like them both too, much.
