Well I just have to share this story with my on-line friends. About twenty minutes ago I was driving eastbond on Highway 401 near Yonge Street when I heard a distinctive sound on the radio. I turned up the volume to hear Gord singing Carefree Highway. Well that was great, so I cranked the volume and started singing along, when this idiot came out of nowhere and cut in front of me on the passenger side. In panic, I pulled to the left and braked hard! Other cars also moved over and one guy almost lost it. Needless to say it was a very scary experience. So much for "Carefree Highway". Well I just had to share that one with someone since I am here alone.

I'm glad you're ok SM and that no one got hurt. Amazing how some people believe they are the only ones on the road!
Nothing like that adreneline rush of fear to put life in perspective, eh?
Also, what a crappy way to ruin a perfect song!

Sure wakes ya up doesn't it? People wonder why there is road rage, when somebody pulls a stunt like that and could injure a lot of people. Glad you had quick reactions.

Well his lane was ending and he couldn't wait to merge behind me. One of those fancy, loud-exhaust Honda Civics going nowhere in a hurry...punks!

I promise you, not all Honda Civic drivers behave like that,SM. Honest.
Glad you are safe.
Something similar happened to me yesterday.
Having just safely manouvered Hyde Park Corner (only other Brits will appreciate that)I was crawling along in heavy traffic. Some idiot behind was honking furiously. Like where could he go? Traffic was solid. Anyhow, he managed to get past us - he was driving one of those flash SAABs. Suddenly there was a loud bang. He had hit a motor
cyclist! The front of his beautiful SAAB was scattered over the road and so was the bike. The rider was up and screaming at him and his pillion passenger was lying on the ground. Within minutes the police were there, and sirens screaming announcing the arrival of ambulance. The traffic was being diverted (causing the rest of us to drive miles out of our way) And all because of the idiot's impatience. I hope the passenger was not badly hurt and I hope the idiot SAAB driver gets the book thrown at him!
And there was no Gord to pacify my shattered nerves!

Hey SilverHeels,
You could always install a CD player. That way there is always Gord. If you need help I'm sure a few of us here could figure it out. Think about it.

Bill,
I do have a player in the car but I was listening to the radio. I've been targetting several stations re. 'Harmony' and was 'stalking' them.
Thanks for the offer tho. Much appreciated.

Wow! SH. That story makes mine sound trivial. I'm almost ashamed for posting it. Well I guess my nerves made me do it. Besides, I had nowhere else to vent...

Stationmaster,it's no surprise to me that you heard "Carfree Highway" on the radio the other day. Along with Sundown the LP and single,it's also been 30 years since that song was a top 10 hit. Both in Canada and the U.S. (#10 Oct./Nov. '74).
I was in a wreck with my dad either winter '75/'76 or '74/'75 when he was driving us into Erie,PA. We hit some bad slush on the road and skidded of the road!
Thankfully,I fell under the dashboard and not through the windshield! (Yep,no seatbelt!) My mother sure gave him heck for that! (To put it cleanly.) Talk about "10 degrees and getting colder"! Brrrrr!
