Aaackk! I sent the seller a note telling him/her that no Lightfoot fan would spend a penny on that "art" - what a waste!

Well I wouldn't buy one BUT in the mid 60s this was a common "craft" project. My older sister and her friends made potato chip bowls and ash trays out of old records and used them, usually only once, for parties. I would never deface a Lightfoot album but I might melt a Tiny Tim...LOL.

Bill

Ash trays were used to put out cigarettes, which were made from tobacco and smoked for fun. Hard to believe, but true kids.

Are you sure Bill??
reminds me of the extremely funny Bob Newhart spoof Sir Walter Raleigh/ UK agent phone call
"you stick these leaves in your mouth.. and set fire to them!!!

dz4740 is obviously a true connoisseur of the patently ridiculous
I checked out his other auctions and found
"500 BUD LIGHT BEER BOTTLE CAPS **EXCELLENT CONDITION***"

but no bottles attached

John Fowles
If you spend your day doing nothing, how do you know when you are done??

Awful person!! However, I, too, came to pick up my kids from school one day and was horrified to find out what they'd done to perfectly good L.P.'s, but, had to, nevertheless, effuse over their "projects."

It's not unique to this Lightfoot fan! Once CD's came about, I made bowls out of all my Lightfoot albums and gave them away as Christmas presents. I even sent Lightfoot one as a get well soon gift. I wonder what he thought? I wonder if he even uses it? I'll bring him another bowl and set it up on the stage at the next concert I attend.

Thanks for the independent confirmation Al, I wonder if those ladies who were going on & on about that Osmond boy would get upset if we made some bowls out of old Osmond records ?

I got a response from the seller - it was a mercy killing, not a deliberate maiming of healthy vinyl. Somebody must have left it out in the sun too long.

"I would not trash a Gordon Lightfoot album. It was warped and was unable to be played. Sorry, surely didn't want to offend anyone."

ok, this may have innocently occurred due to the sun, but i think a more healthy choice (than using these for chip bowls or ashtrays) would be to flip them upside down and use for shielding oneself from the sun/uv's during Lighthead gatherings/bbq's

it would be more fashionable than the upside down lampshades you otherwise see worn at these events
