Check it out - I know a few people were hoping for this - Aurora, IL is now on the schedule, as well as several other places.

They just added even more, Portland OR and Nashville and a couple of others. He's now well over the magic 50 concerts... Pretty much all over the States this year, so almost every Lighthead gets his chance, I hope!! I can't wait until Fall when he comes to Minneapolis and Duluth. Two days in a row for me, what a treat!

Someone said Nashville and my heart jumped up a little.. I thought, if its the Ryman, I'm there with Music City bells on!.. but alas not.. (The Ryman seats 2362 which is well within reason; anyone know if Gord's ever played the motherchurch of country music?)..
Aurora's a great little town and that Paramount Theatre's a beauty.. Sunday night though.. oh well.. too bad..

You're welcome, Jennifer. I'm trying to work something out so I can go to both Aurora and Milwaukee.

Hello, long time lurker and new member here. The upcoming show in Nashville (Sept. 12) motivated me to register and post. It has been many, many years since Gordon played "Music City," and it will be great to have him here.
I wrote both his management co. and a local concert promoter a few months ago, urging them to schedule a show this year at the Ryman. While that apparently did not work out, at least he is on the way! I know he spent some time here early in his career so it will be great to hear some old stories, hopefully. I don't know that my letters made a difference, but my wife and I will be there, as close to the front row as possible.
I regularly peruse this board and thank all of you for your great concert reviews and information regarding a gentleman and underappreciated (at least in these parts) musical genius who rightly should be considered the peer of Johnny Cash. Cheers!

Welcome, Andy! I saw Gordon at an outdoor venue in Nashville back in the early 90's - can't recall the name of the place, but it was a lot of fun!
Edit: I just found the 1991 schedule - the name of the place was "Starwood".

Hi Vickie, thanks. That sounds like Starwood Amphitheatre, which is now closed. Haven't researced it but that may be the last time he performed in Nashville. That was before my appreciation for the man's music was reborn.
He will be at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center this time. Not the Ryman, but we'll take it!

Lightfoot last performed in Nashville in April, 2001, as the final performer at that year's Nashville Songwriters Association concert. That concert was held at the Ryman. You can read about it here: gordonlightfoot.com/nsai.shtml.

Valerie, thanks for that link. Sure wish I had known about that appearance! Tin Pan South is a huge week-long event and it is easy to get lost in the shuffle.
