I will add that after being a devotee of Neil Diamond from '78 to about 1992,I can honestly say that Gordon has it over him in so many ways.
Gordon never changed his singer songwriter style in favor of 1970's style hitmaking (in other words,giving up one's true performing identity.)Neil went from S/Song. to AC act,kinda dull then.
GL didn't go "Vegas" like Neil did when he started wearing sequined shirts on stage (yuk!). Gordon also made a better movie!
So I ask myself now,"why didn't I see this sooner?" The answer:I thought acts with only a handful of hits couldn't have much else that was good.

Pretty dumb way to think,glad I turned my mind around on that one.
