The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
The folowing thread has appeared on the Facebook Got Gordon Lightfoot page at:-
https://www.facebook.com/groups/138620169562397/
so for Corfiddlers benefit I am going to reproduce it here
several hours ago Rosanne Donow said
I'm trying to find the album/cd of "The Last Time I Saw Her". Amazon has some but I don't know which album I'm looking for. Can someone help me please?
Susan Kilpatrick then kindly and helpfully replied thus
Go on Valerie's site at www.gordonlightfoot.com under "songs"and it will show you a list of all of his songs and the albums they are on, Rosanne Donow.
Rosanne dutifully took that advice (Do Now indeed!!) and reported back
Rosanne Donow Thank you Susan Kilpatrick. I just bought his "Songbook" at Barnes and Nobles. Amazon was showing his recordings in foreign currency and I had no idea how much it was in US money.
Susan then responded
Songbook is a great treasure trove of Gordon's songs and some never previously released. Definitely a "must have". You will love it!!! Good decision
I saw this and thought I would add a few cents worth
Hi Rosanne
As you probably saw The Last Time (TLT) was originally included on Gords third United Artists album Did She Mention My Name (DSMMN) in 1968,It was frequently in setlists in the early 70's and there are several very good live versions on some bootleg recordings in circulation (I have in mind in a particular favoUrite of mine the great Red Rocks ColoUrado concert on July 12 1975 see the complete setlist at
http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/a...2RedRocks.html
I burnt a CD from this concert here is my jewel case front insert suggestion
and listen to the streaming file (that can be downloaded as either an all in one low quality wma format file or a better mp3) you can hear it by clicking this link TLT starts at about 1:04 and is not quite ruined by extraneous audience noise
http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/G...12RedRocks.asx
somewhat surprisingly TLT was not included on that years' retrospective Gord's Gold1
but as you now know that was corrected by including it in the simply brilliant Songbook boxset (recently reissued and on sale by US Amazon.com for only US$31.99
(considerably less than the 50 GB Pounds (today that is US73:11!!) I paid for my copy that I bought as soon as it was released back in 1999) see the thread on the Newsgroup entitled
"Box Set seen on sale in UK today"
and my posting about the UK pound sign (not to be confused with the US interpretation of a "pound" sign (#) that I call a hash) see
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!original/alt.music.lightfoot/y7pf1AeG9GI/i3lT-wvc2qIJ
I had previously reported on my excited receipt of my Songbook in a thread subject
"box set arrives in England" at:-
http://https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!msg/alt.music.lightfoot/ia-CHr3JrHo/AwVVkgeEkUEJ
I then added a final comment on the Facebook page
I am now going to copy the above messages and put them in a new thread on Corfid so that any Corfiddler who does not also read this page can be aware of it and see it
