Default Small World Indeed

This morning we had a meeting with our contractor and the tile man who would be doing the shower and tile stuff for our master bath remodel. He showed up first and it was obvious he hadn't been born in Maryland. He was from Canada, of course, and when we said "oh we travel there to see Gordon Lightfoot"... "I've got a story about him" and proceeded to tell us of how he installed carpet for Gord about the time he was going through his divorce from his first wife... great story.

Everyone loves Gord, eh?

Bill

Interesting story Bill and thanks for posting it as it inspired me to relate this one pertaining to the "small world indeed" theme.

The letter carrier (Mike) who delivered mail to the residences in Gord's area lives one block from me here in Scarborough.

We've become friends as we're both retired postal workers and we both like to walk so we see each other often.

Mike told me one day as he was delivering mail in Gord's area he bumped into Gord who was out jogging.

He told me he always wanted to meet Mr. Lightfoot as he had been delivering the mail to Gord's home for a number of years.

They both stopped and Mike told Gord how happy he was to meet Mr. Lightfoot as he is a big fan.

Mike said Gord thanked him but was more interested in talking to him about his job delivering mail out there in all kinds of weather, etc.

Very nice friendly man he is says Mike.

Two great stories.

Hey Ron - did your friend deliver in Rosedale or the Bridle Path? Either way, a pretty sweet walk!

Hi Brian,

Great seeing you again at the Massey gigs and pub jam.

Yes, both really beautiful scenic parts of good ol' "TO."

It was "The Bridal Path" area of Toronto where Mike was delivering mail where he and Gord both met.

I'm not too familiar with "The Bridal Path" area of Toronto but I know it's pretty well spread out and it would be much easier there to walk out your door and sort of just "take off" for a jog as opposed to the "Rosedale" area where the homes are much closer together.

But ya know; I think Gord belongs back in that Rosedale house. What a beautiful setting it was down there in the Rosedale Valley. All the walking, jogging space one would ever need on the endless trails down there.

It was his place.

The house had the turret, the old Orillia Opera House hometown style and all the beautiful surroundings that seemed to work so well with all the great songs he was writing there in those wonderful days.

Sometimes I go there and ride my bike around. Just absorb all the great vibes and relive the magic that I can still seem to connect with from that golden era.

Time now for "Song For A Winter's Night" to bring an end to this cold February evening in Toronto.

Sorry to go off topic a tad. Guess it's "That Same Old Obsession" still kicking in there.

Nice one Ron
Or you could say that you are one of the thousand people who make up the face of Gord
Perhaps somebody (not me!!) with time on their hands could collect photos of a thousand
Lightheaded fans and make a collage out of them to represent an image of Gordon as was apparently done recently by an admirer (again not me!!) of Leonardo De Caprio

How's about it Jimbo??
OR if he is awake and still on the rails the Station Master or hopefully the Zone Ranger is not completely zonked out nowadays!!

Ron, Brian and John,

Good to see you're all still around. Small world stories remind me of when I realized Sir John lived a couple of miles down the road from my sister.
