The Mynahbirds-Rick James, Neil Young...
Two days ago, my brother gave me a guitar pick that he found on the floor and thought maybe I had lost it. I hadn't, but the funny thing was that our cousin gave me a guitar pick just like that a few months ago. I dug thru my picks last night and found the other one. They are mass produced picks autographed by Rick James. ...Who else is finding these?
I looked up Rick James (and his autograph), etc., and discovered he had been in a band with Neil Young in Toronto.

Re: The Mynahbirds-Rick James, Neil Young...
James Ambrose Johnson, Jr. was his birth name. Born Feb 1st 1948, died August 6th, 2004.
I wasn't ever sure who he was. I just kept the picks because my cousin Eleanor gave me one, and she's 83 years old....plus, she's like my auntie. she calls me her niece because she calls my mom her sister... because their real sisters passed on. (The picks were in cellophane...might have come from a cereal box or something)....
and my little brother is alright too. He will be 50 on the last day of this month. GL's oldest son turned 50 on the first day of this month, and my brother will turn 50 on the last day of this month. Both born in 1964.
Funny thing about those picks. They both find them on their floors, and neither of them knew how they got there, and they live about 40 miles or so from one another...somehow they both decide to give them to me. coincidence maybe.

Re: The Mynahbirds-Rick James, Neil Young...
There was a Live 365 station I use to listen to that use to either play rare stuff by main stream artists or in many cases rare bands and would often give names of an artist or artists who would either go on to have fame in another group or on their own and mentioned both men in this group.
Though I wonder if this song might of been recorded a year earlier because The Buffalo Springfield was formed in March of 66, though I also heard years ago Neil was deported back to Canada for drug issues.
Kind of interesting that Motown would of taken a chance on this song for obvious reasons.

Re: The Mynahbirds-Rick James, Neil Young...
I don't know where you can extrapolate that I said or even implied your info was false. Had it been false I'd have said so and tried to provide correct info.
Your post ended with the inference he was deported back here but no mention that if he did get deported back here that he turned around and left again..
Nothing was said about what you knew following his deportation and he returned to the us. So there fore I could not know what you did or did not know.
...and I also posted that info for clarification for the many others who read these posts and may not know that he has not lived here since 1966.
It's as simple as that.

I never knew that. I thought that was Palmer
It would have been nice to see Young even visit and support the Family Farm tribute concert (as Gord and Burton did) the way he's been involved the the farm Aid. I don't think of him as Canadian, but IMO, his early songs still have that personality to them.

You're welcome. I didn't find anything about "Salt and Pepper" either, but here's something that says he was the nephew of Melvin Franklin from the Temptations. You know, the ones that sang "Rudolph, the Red-nosed Reindeer". (etc.)

Re: The Mynahbirds-Rick James, Neil Young...
It would have been Rick James' 66th birthday on Feb.1...he died of a heart attack at 56.. geeze..
Neil Young is still a Canadian citizen as we allow dual citizenship...

Try "Salt N Pepa" . I suspect that is the band you are after .They had a pretty big hit with "Push It" - a saucey ditty with an infectious hook on synth some years back .
