This performance at the 2011 Australian Football League Grand Final (in front of 100,00 people at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and millions of TV viewers around the world) led to the AFL being criticised for their choice of musical entertainment. The AFL has stuck with local (and less costly) acts in the two Grand Finals since then.
can't view but I saw MEATLOAF 2 or 3 times...awesome shows back in the day.. what did he do that was questioned?? or was it just that HE was chosen over an Aussie or more family friendly entertainer??
I enjoyed Meatloaf in concert in Melbourne in 1978, but his performance here in 2011 was woeful. He was off pitch, couldn't hold a note and seemed tone-deaf. For the amount he was paid (apparently $600,000), that full stadium and the millions of TV viewers deserved much better. Lionel Richie performed at the previous year's Grand Final and got great reviews.
