My 1st concert : 10 years ago tonight!
Amazing as it is to me,it's been 10 years since I attended my very first Gordon
Lightfoot concert. I know more of you go all the way back to the 1960s but a 1st is a first.
Quite the experience, which I've talked of a few times since then on this site. Simply put,I requested a day off in advance from the job I had then, wet downtown early and finaly to the hall 1 hour before showtime.
Opened with Triangle, concluded with Old Dan's Records. As most of you have read,he talked about the movie Hail Hero, whose title I shouted out & he responded "You got it man".
After the show, was surprised how easy it was to get an autograph. He signed my ticket & a concert hall poster. Most famous person I ever met,& met again 3 more times.
A few months later, found this site.
That concert was on my late Grandmother's birthday as well, she'd have been 93 that day.
Thanks for reading guys.

How about that, you first saw him on August 6th, 10 years ago, on your Grandmother's birthday. The first time I saw him was August 5th, 17 years ago, on the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, according to what she told the visionaries in Medugorje.

Wow,that's incredible as well!
I wonder, did anyone out there see
their first Lightfoot show on Gordon's birthday?
That would be so fitting .

Re: My 1st concert : 10 years ago tonight!
10 years used to be a long time. Although the last 10 seem to be more like 5. Anyway, thank you Borderstone; because your story of how you met Gordon spurned me on to do likewise. I remember it was a chilly night, and I nervously wondered whether I should try to meet my hero or just go home. I decided that if I didn't at least try, I would never forgive myself. Needless to say, I was rewarded. Not only did I meet the man, but as it was chilly and somewhat misty that night, the man himself opened the backstage door and invited me to come inside where it was warm and dry. That autographed Don Quixote album, that Terry jokingly referred to as Don Kwix-otie, is still one of my most treasured possesions. So congratulations Borderstone on your milestone- and thanks for the tip!

I will be seeing my 1st Lightfoot concert 2 days before his 74th birthday. My 2nd the day before his 74th birthday and my 3rd (possibly last) on his 74th birthday this year.
It will be Masseyve!

Re: My 1st concert : 10 years ago tonight!
I sense it will not be pretty for me should I bump into a certain (ex)Pom in Toronto in November . A bad time for me for the Brits to (finally) perform at a certain 4 year sporting aggregation whose name shall not be mentioned in this forum due to its unimportance in the world scheme (and the minor issue seeing as they are flogging us in terms of medal count !)
Joveski is both knowledgeable but more importantly young. The latter being something that the Methuselah of Corfid (aka Sir John ) , could never be labelled . Time is on Mende's side to do & see whoever whenever he chooses .
While it is true that my liver is close to Fowlsian in terms of its virtual age (i.e. 969 years ) due to prolonged exposure to fermented substances , I look forward to attending (via the Old Dart after an absence of >33 years ). I am hoping but by no means certain of not being mistaken for a garden gnome or as a scientific freak - an advanced pregnancy of the contra gender .
In the meantime I will however endeavour to practice rudeness and retorts in case Sir John finds some form and is well armed.

Joveski,
I also prefer (home-state) Victoria Bitter to New South Wales' Reschs. Good luck getting on Steve's private jet.
