jim, where did you get the blurb that says these folks will be on episode four (ie. 4/4)?

seems like that was line up for episode three (as i think char has also noticed)

here's what i found:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00vfhy7

Donovan, Gerry Rafferty, James Taylor, Elton John, Mickey Newbury, Neil Young, Tom Paxton, John Prine, Melanie, Jesse Winchester, Steve Forbert, Chris Rea, Carole King and others

maybe GL falls under "others" lol

but it all sounds good (even part 1 and 2 would be nice to see on youtube!)

i especially would like to see Rafferty (had to find his early live stuff)

That might be a misprint because he was supposed to be on episode two but wasn't...

No Gord in this episode but still interesting. I'd never heard of Steve Frobert before, seems good though!

JJ, The quote you have is that which I cut and pasted from the BBC Four page on the day before transmission of the program. I thought it was too good to be true. I was away over the weekend and recorded the program, I have not watched it yet, but fast forwarded through to see that GL was not on. I will watch it.

For anybody who is into Bit Torrents and has already signed up or can sign up ar http://www.hungercity.com somebody has created a DVD of the complete BBC Four broadcast that contained the IYCRMM teaser
if you can get into the Hunger City website you will find the relevant page is at:-
http://www.hungercity.org/details.php?id=11660
for those who are not so bold here is what you then see:-
"Description Singer - Songwriters At The BBC - Part 3 - DVD - PAL
Broadcast BBC 4 15th Oct. 2010
BBC 4 Freesat Digital-->Humax Foxsat HDR-->TS file USB to PC-->Video Redo-->TMPGEnc Author4--> Video Folder
Video : MPEG-2 4:3 3898 kb/s 25fp/s 720x576 PAL (unrecoded files)
Audio : MP-2 256kb/s

Chapters:-
1. BBC Intro*
2. Bobbie Gentry - Ode To Billy Joe - Bobbie Gentry 1968
3. Kris Kristofferson - Loving Her Was Easier - OGWT 1972
4. Joni Mitchell - Both Sides Now - In Concert 1970
5. Gordon Lightfoot - If You Could Read My Mind - In Concert 1972
6. John Martyn - May You Never - OGWT 1973
7. Buffy Sainte-Marie - Until It's Time For You To Go - One In Ten 1971
8. Randy Newman - I Think It's Going To Rain Today - In Concert 1971
9. Don McLean - Vincent - Sounds For saturday 1972
10. Roy Harper - Commune - OGWT 1974
11. Linda Lewis - It's The Frame - OGWT 1972
12. Eric Carmen - All By Myself - TOTP 1976
13. Loudon Wainwright III - Reciprocity - OGWT 1977
14. Ralph McTell - Streets Of London - TOTP 1975
15. Dory Previn - Mythical Kings and Iguanas - OGWT 1977
16. Don Williams - Till The Rivers All Run Dry - In Concert 1979
17. Paul Brady - Crazy Dreams - OGWT 1981
* there is about ten seconds of the intro before the BBC switches to the correct aspect ratio
Total Time : 58:51
The third part (of 4) of the BBC's "Singer-Songwriters" look back at the 70's, sees some more hidden gems dusted off from the archives
My particular favourite here is the magnificent rendition of Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind" taken from a
1972 "In Concert" that is still waiting to be re-shown.Surely he has never performed it better! Wouldn't it be wonderful if the Beeb showed again these great In Concert shows
such as this one, the Randy Newman, John Sebastian and others.
We wait in anticipation."
The torrent is the complete set of files to recreate the DVD totalling only 1.71GB and
as there are a stack of seeders with good high speed connections it is not going to take too long to download
µTorrent claims that with 12% so far completed it should finish in only a bit over two hours as I type this
Here is that GL still (as used in the DVD insert artwork above) in all its glory

thanks sir John... i'm not sure if you saw that the entire GL IYCRMM performance from that BBC 3 episode was posted in this thread

i like billy joel's early voice...i don't own anything beyond 52nd St when he got a bit more growly/gravelly voice delivery, similar to my take on Elton

terry jacks footage is lipsynch, same thing he's been doing for almost 40 years - i have yet to actually see and hear him sing this other than this one:

it's quite a, umm, buBBly duet/performance considering it's a sad song

...to keep this all +ive, his hair has really improved

fyi, more goodie from that episode are still up at this guy's site (such nice sound quality) including this one

http://www.youtube.com/user/wilfridt.../1/m4ceDTXpYzM

i am pretty ignorant to this Trilogy although I read that Elvis did it (i'm not an Elvis guy)...anyhow, I enjoyed this performance

i know the latter section from a combo that Jerre's band (TCT) laid down very nicely but thought it was called All My Trials (followed Going Home)...any insights that may help lessen my canadian ignorance

also can check out Bobby Gentry, Janis Ian and a very buff-thighed Buffy Sainte Marie

This just might not have been a BBC typo after all!!

Listen very carefully to the lyrics in this "alternative" version
For "proof" see the sheet music

Urban legend has it that this ultra rare live recording was discovered in 1999 by an audioguru who then included it as a bonus track on a limited circulation double CD containing the Final Four LPs

this was a really nice video. What a beautiful voice. I have always adored Elvis' version of the Trilogy, (i am "an Elvis guy", girl version...haha) and this one is just as good. Thanks so much for sharing the link. I have already listened to it a couple of times

I never get tired of listening to I.Y.C.R.M.M. It rips my heart out every
time(doubt if I'll ever know why).I love how many different videos/
versions of it that are out there on the internet.

You know,I've always though that was his best "look".

Long hair and no moustahce & beard plus those darker clothes really make him look the epitome of "cool" .

That 'alternative' version of I.Y.C.R.M.M. to have been a !@#$% to do! Does anyone know how it came about ?Did someone dare Gordy
to do it? Did he start horsing around with it,and this is the end result, etc?
I've been trying for a very long time to figure out the sequence of the lyrics.I've even tried writing them out.Its driving me crazy! Is it every third line from the first verse is switched with the 3rd line
from the second verse? If anyone can help me,please let me know.
