Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
I was delighted to find it in an Archambault Musique near Montreal. They even had a better than I expected selection of his older CD's.

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
Thanks for the welcome Mike!!
I am still anxiously awaiting the arrival of the CD. I ordered it through Massey Hall when I purchased my tickets. Maybe because I'm in the US??

Same here I finally decided enough was enough and ordered one from Amazon. When and if the one from Rhino arrives, I will give it as a gift.

live CD & DVD
Just heard about the new live disc from Lightfoot a couple of days ago. I was hoping that if a live album came out, it would contain some tracks from the late 70's thru mid 80's. However, I certainly don't want to second guess GL's judgement on what should come out. I listened to some audio samples and it sounded really good and I also like the fact that Lightfoot decided to make it a "real" live album and forgo overdubs and remixing. The song selection is excellent as well. I just ordered the DVD, Live In Reno, and I'm looking forward to playing it hooked up to my Bose music system which produces phenomenal sound from my concert DVD's.

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
Got mine yesterday in the mail from Rhino. Haven't yet had a chance to listen all the way through but listened to a good portion of it. I'm enjoying it. Unlike the studio recordings, I can see them on stage when I listen to these songs. I can see Gord step back in parts of songs, looking at Terry & those little smiles they'd share Am I the only one who does that? It's just nice to have something "new". Along with all the videos & everything that goes with it, I'll enjoy it. And thanks Char for all your hard work in compiling everything during his media blitz.

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
It's certainly been a busy time! But it's been fun..loved seeing a Lightfoot concert on Friday and then a CD signing and up close and personal q&a and song on Monday!
Doesn't get much better than that..

until the phone rings...

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
I KNEW ordering from Amazon would cause the Rhino copy to arrive! I am going to give the extra copy to my mother when we pass through Kalamazoo on our way to Massey Hall in November. She thinks I am quite insane for making these pilgrimages to Toronto; perhaps hearing the songs as they sound at Massey will clear things up for her

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
Char I suspect you haven't "minded" the extra work because the benefits that go with it are major but I still want you to know it's much appreciated. If I wasn't so far away, I'd have been right there with you at the concert & the signing. And I'd love to be there when your phone rings

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
Just got my Rhino order in - All Live really does sound good. "Fine As Fine Can Be' is arguably the best track on the disc.

Christian Island (Gord able to sing over the band, and Terry in the spotlight)
Fine as Fine Can Be (where Mike uses warm strings sound instead of e-piano)
Restless (i never grow tired of hearing Barry doing his signature percussion work)
Let It Ride (the closing high end bass work that Rick does is always a treat)

thanks bjm....i guess i should add CRT to my list, to round it off...and cos its a pretty good song...lol
so again, what are everyone's Top Five tracks?

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
Well, it finally arrived today, and it was certainly worth the wait. I know there has been discussion and some dismay about the track list. I sorta understood where everyone was coming from on that, wishing for some less-frequently-performed gems. But I have to say, the quality of this recording and the clarity of Gord's voice is absolutely stunning. I haven't listened all the way through yet, but will this evening.
Jimmy, I'll post my top 5 as soon as I listen to them all!
What an awesome job Gord has done with this. Bravo!
Makes me even that more anxious for November.......
Cheers,
Melissa

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
I'm having a hard tme picking the top 5 !!
Understanding how this record/cd came about in regards to 'sound' fascinates me. The determination of Lightfoot to make it just like it was heard by those of us at those concerts is commendable. Having the control to make sure that is how it was to be released and not wait for someone else to possibly 'fix' things 'later' played a huge part in why it's out now.
Apparently he has rid himself of all other recordings so the hopes of a CD of 70's and one of 80's songs recorded LIVE @ Massey is gone.
The video footage from last May @ Massey will not be a DVD...
This ALL LIVE cd from 1998-2001 may be all we get...
Should we start the Massey countdown now??
lol

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
Yeee-haw! I am pre-ordered for All Live!
Sports? Well, our Cleveland Indians are #1 in the American League Central (10-8)(subject to change!), but they are just now (3:20 PM) starting a 1:00 PM game because of rain and sleet! We had some sleet here, too! Ugh!
Cincinnati, our other Ohio team, is #2 in the National League Central.

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
i got my cd yesterday and immediately made a copy for my car and one for the house. I have been listening to it since 8 this morning, almost non stop. it has been amazing to hear that beautiful voice live, but it has been melt your heart, sigh worthy to hear that incredible guitar of Terry's. I can't help myself, I am not satisfied with just one live album. We need a follow up cd to include Beautifu and if children had wings... Please?

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
Finally got to listen to the entire CD today. I think the quality is exceptional.
My top 5 would have to be:
IYCRMM
Christian Island
CRT
Let it Ride
SFAWN
I think this may be the best recording of IYCRMM that I've ever heard. It is beautiful.
In most cases, I don't get a lot of the clarity when I listen to CD's in my car. But this one is an exception. It sounds amazing in the car. I can only imagine what it's going to sound like when I pull out the really good headphones tonight and listen in a quiet room.
I also have to say that EMR was amazing, too, and probably should be tied with SFAWN on my list. I especially like that he was still singing "can" instead of "might" back then. I always liked "can" better and wish he hadn't changed it.
Yes, this CD is a pleasant surprise and I'll be listening to it a lot. I hope it sells about 5 million copies.

Re: PRESS RELASE - CD songlist and cover picture
I am now on my third time through, and my top five are:
SFAWN - One of my favorites anyway, and this one gave me chills. I would gladly have bought the CD just for this song.
IYCRMM - The band is flawless, better even than the original recording.
Early Morning Rain
CRT
Let It Ride
Has anyone else noticed that the vocal level seems to fluctuate somewhat? I feel like I really have to crank the volume on a few songs - not that there's anything wrong with that

I got my copy this week, but still haven't listened all the way through yet. Knowing that there is a very good chance this will be my last new GL cd, I wanted to savor it. I've been waiting to pour a glass of wine, and be alone in a quiet room to enjoy.
I didn't want to have my first time be in a car........

I agree with your list, but I would add Christian Island. Guitar on that is incredible, especially in the car with the sound cranked up!
And I can't wait to see him in 12 days!
