Re: Greenwich Village movie
A pretty interesting article Char thanks for posting the link.
I am having trouble getting Google alerts go work nowadays very few if any get into my inbox so I am missing these tidbits.
In this article about making a film about the influence of the early 60's Greenwich Village scene on music, Gord seems to be mentioned just once but I wonder if the film maker approached EMP?
Towards the end there is the following paragraph that does not mention Gord.
BPM: You interviewed an impressive list of stars for the film — Pete Fornatale, Buffy Saint-Marie, Happy Traum, Ian and Sylvia Tyson, Steve Earle, Eric Andersen and many more; but were any personalities elusive? Did anyone turn you down?
There were a few. I wanted to speak with James Taylor because he started in the Village, though those were difficult days for him personally. Another one I couldn't get was Paul Simon. With Leonard Cohen, I went through his management and they said he really doesn't do interviews, which is too bad because Judy Collins covered his songs. And then Joni Mitchell; I received a lovely email back from her management saying that "Joni wishes you the best of luck, but she doesn't do anything regarding her career any longer."She just doesn't.
I had trouble getting that video to play and sync properly
We were all young once!!
I guess Nostalgia ain't what it used to be!!!

Re: Greenwich Village movie
Great post, Charlene. Gord once said that folk music was done, yet we still go back to it.
There is a video on YouTube from a couple of years ago of Judy Collins singing "Someday Soon" on David Letterman. She still has the voice at 70, and can still do justice to a great song....

Re: Greenwich Village movie
I love Simon & Garfunkel. As a teenager, I had every album they made, and wore them completly out. Now I have every CD and play them often. I used to try to emulate Paul's guitar playing, then gave up and just went with my own style. He's become quite a guitarist over the years, branching into some jazz and classical styles, but I have to say, I enjoy his '60s music the best. And the harmony was great! They just don't make music like that anymore.

Re: Greenwich Village movie
This was a great find; many thanks.
Just in case you were wondering about Joni Mitchell and her reticence, there has been an of interesting development with her. She has contracted, or believes she has contracted, something called, I think, "Morgellon's syndrome", which is either an unexplained skin malady (unexplained threads and fibers underneath the skin, a feeling of discomfort and crawliness under the skin) or a totally imagined psychosomatic ailment. Reading the literature, there are experts who think that this is a true ailment, and others who are absolutely dismissive and who are convinced that the whole think is a psychological disorder.

I have no doubt this exists. Every time I inadvertently see even a few seconds of a reality show on TV , my flesh crawls . Shopping does it to me too . Also some forms of that disgusting 4 letter word that should not be mentioned in polite conversation (WORK) bring it on .
Now I know what I have got !
thanks (Dr.) DQ.
