Upon reading it again, I think you're right about it being a joke. I seriously doubt that Snoop Dog is the far right's favorite artist.

Ya know I really hope you're right but as I peruse different websites/chats/blogs regarding some of these issues I'm afraid it probably isn't. I guess my sense of humour is virtually non-existant of late. That, and I'm getting so freakin' fed up with the political ads that are running on the telly that I've started using my "magic wand" more often & hit the mute button. I may have to look at the obnoxious little beggars, but I don't have to listen to them, thank goodness. Yes it is an interesting site......At the end of the day though, we all realize the music is an international language, politics notwithstanding. But while it is true that right wing and left wing extreme views end up in music, Gordon Lightfoot has never really been about that.

I do seriously think that while there are a lot of skewed ideas coming from elsewhere in the world about what Canada is about, as well as all the world politics, and world conflicts, and all the global fears, somebody like Gordon Lightfoot comes along and gives us all a distraction from all that. We can think about "heaven can be yours - just for now", or "a summertime dream", or travelling on that "Carefree Highway". That's what it's about.
