I saw Gord and the band last evening at the Parmount Arts Theatre. This was the first concert for me to attend since his major health problems. I was not disappointed. It was superb. First, the show was well promoted by B97.1 and it showed by an almost full theatre. The audience was very knowledgeable and appreciative of Gord although many may have heard Clouds of Loneliness for the first time last evening (I apologize that I do not keep set lists). The band was great as usual. The audience appreciated many of Terry's licks. Barry is more than a drummer - he is a top-notch percussionist. Mike and Rick were awesome as well. It was very cool when Gord introduced the band... he referred to them as his "collegues." I truly enjoyed the new arrangements on many of the songs. The songs seem new and fresh. Gord's voice is not that of his twenties (if you want that stay home and play a CD), but is in a new form of excellence. Gord still has more talent remaining than many others who have made careers on much less. This was another spellbinding performance where the audience quietly anticipated the next song, hung on each note, and waited until the final note of each song was played before showing their appreciation. One humorous note occurred near the end of the concert after Gord and the band nailed IYCRM. Politely, an audience member said, "Now what are you going to do?" Gord, please come my way again real soon and bring your collegues.
