Default Gordon's deep catalog-favorite overlooked tune?

Just found you Gord fans! What a great site!
Since Gordon has so many great tunes in his catalog some seem to get overlooked. Do you have a fav or two that people are missing out on?
I'm trying to get some ideas about which ones to record.
Stuck inside typing watching a 15" snowfall in NJ that won't quit.
I know, that's just a dusting to you Canadians.

Here in the Toronto area we have had so little snow that I have seen grass all winter. Outlying areas around Toronto are well below the normal amounts.

They are trucking snow into some of the southern venues at the Olympics in Vancouver.. the Maritimes got lots of snow-no more than PA or the New England states tho.

hhhmmmm...In A Windowpane - you could record that one... check out the COVERS section here at corfid...

Welcome!

Wheels

Welcome to the group. You're going to have a wonderful time. exploring this sight and listening to all of Gord's wonderful music. There are a lot of wonderful people here.
Char's earned her angel wings for all the work she does here.
After exploring the forums for a while, you'll get to feel that you made a lot of new friends.

there are oh so many great Lightfoot songs beside the obvious hits..

Some of my favorites....
"I'm not supposed to care" Summertime Dream LP
"Looking At the Rain" Don Quixote
"Too Late for Prayin" Sundownhip
"Miquel" Summerside of Life
"Ballad of the Yarmouth Castle" Sunday Concert a song about a ship. Many think "BTYC"
is better than the Wreck of the Fitz" By the way it's
common here to use initals to refer to Gords songs

I'm sure that everyone can post additions to this list

By the way If you go to www.rhapsody.com/gordon-lightfoot
you can listen up to 25 songs per month free

There were so many great songs that I could not believe were left off the songbook boxset. Heres a few! Home from the forest, Miguel, The Patriots dream, Christian island, Cherokee bend,Triangle, Race among the ruins... the list goes on! Guess its a mark of gord's abundance of quality songs.

SDYS, SFAWN, TDAGC ... (for that last one we don't usually use an acronym, It's 10 Degrees and Getting Colder).

Thanks for the welcome. Lots of tunes I don't know by name. Abbreviated song names? Man, you guys are really into Gord!
Seems like the deeper you go into his catalog the more treasure you find.
I'm definitely gong to check out "Ballad of Yarmouth...",Thester and "Windowpane", Charl.
Anybody remember "Rosanna"? I just finished that one. Someday maybe I'll figure out how to make a file and attach it.

I was buying a sandwich and coffee at a 7-11 in 1982 when I first heard "I'll Do Anything" over the radio playing beside the cashier. The deejay announced the song was one from Lightfoot's newly released album "Shadows". I never heard the song on the radio again...

If this thread continues, all of Gord's songs will be mentioned...well, maybe three that come to mind that won't are May I, Canary Yellow Canoe, and Cow Chucking.

I really love Ballad of Yarmouth Castle...great tune! And Rosanna too.

My favourite songs that were written by Lightfoot and that do not appear on Gord's Gold, Gord's Gold Volume II, GL's Songbook collection or GL's Complete Greatest Hits include the following:

I'll Do Anything
Looking at the Rain
Miguel
On the High Seas
Only Love Would Know
Rainbow Trout
Talking in Your Sleep
You Are What I Am

What would qualify as an overlooked tune?

Anything that wasn't a hit or just not as well liked by GL fans?

Hi all, first time posting but a long time fan of Gords and this website. I always thought two songs from the Salute album should have been hits. Tattoo and Romance
