Default Starting your day with a GL song

This has been posted before, but I couldn't find the old topic, so I'll just start a new one.

Does anyone like to begin their day with a particular Gord song? Sometimes the night before I'll go ahead and put the CD in the CD player, and when I wake up in the morning, before I do anything (even get out of bed) I'll play the song and get kind of energized by the music. Depending on what kind of day it is supposed to be might determine which song I'll play.

Drink Yer Glasses Empty- If it's going to be a long hard day at work, or if I'm nervous or scared about something (say a job interview or maybe a 1st date), I'll play this song.

Wherefore And Why- If it's going to be a good day, if I'm about to spend day with friends, going to a party, or visiting the family (like Thanksgiving or Christmas day), I'll play the original version of this song. (If it's going to be a day spent with a girl I like, like a romantic thing, I'll play the Gord's Gold version).

I'd Rather Press On- If I've had a bad day the day before, or if I've been having several bad days in a row or going through a tough time, and I decide it's time to crack down and get things straight, I'll play this song. (I could also play the song "I Won't Back Down").

Keepin' On Yearnin'- I might play this song if life is going good and I'm looking forward to starting the day, much like I would play Wherefore And Why.

Endless Wire- If live has been going good, I'll play the original (much like Keepin' On Yearnin'). If life has been kind of a drag, I might start the day with the Gord's Gold 2 version (it has an I'd Rather Press On mood to it).

Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald- Although I missed it this year, I like to play this every November 10th.

Welcome To Try- If I'm going through a breakup, or there's a certain person/people I've decided I don't want anything to do with anymore, I'll start off the day with this song.

What songs would you like to begin the day with? Even if I've already mentioned some of your ideas above, feel free to share anyway.

Hey Shut,
Have you seen Gord live yet? He is coming to Georgia in March - save those pennies and time off from work.

I don't usually plan a GL song for first thing in the morning, but if I did, it would be 2nd Cup of Coffee. I love the song, and of course the coffee/caffeine is great for the a.m.

I like the feel and tempo of Lazy Mornin'. "Coffee's in the kitchen, woman on the run...." yeah, I really like that one.

Seven Island Suite... for no other reason than it is my favorite Gordon Lightfoot song !

But I guess the kind of weather we've had this year, rain, rain & more rain. I've never seen so many rainy day's like in 2009.

I should have maybe said, "Looking At The Rain" or "Rainy Day People."

"Looking at the Rain" has been 'the' song I've been into the past month or so. Haven't had a chance to pick it out on the Goya yet.

Not yet. I'll have to see about going to see him live come March. It may be the last chance I get :o (hopefully not).

Myself, I like to start off with any of his upbeat tunes that either make me want to dance or feel like I'm traveling some place.

Even though I am not a Canadian Citizen, "Highway Songs", "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" and "Whispers of the North" are three great tunes to listen to on the QEW as soon as I get through customs at the Peace Bridge when I am heading to Georgian Bay for vacation.

I guess since I am from North America maybe I qualify for some special consideration as an honorary Canadian.

If such a category exists, I wonder what a person would have to do to become one, an honourary Canadian that is?

I start my work day with Salute. That opening electric guitar is a good soul stirrer.

Forgot about that one.

I've also started the day with 'Gotta Get Away', and 'Broken Dreams'.
