Yeah, they are great pics. (I haven't a clue how to post on here for pics...wait a minute - I don't have any to post.....)
From the looks of the pics, Gord has brought out his McGlincy six-string....

And why are you "formerly lavender"? (Emphasis on formerly?)
Thank God Char did the rest of them. Now I don't have to try to figure out how to post the others. Don't think sharing will be in my future - Why is it apparently so difficult on this site that we have to have a testforum? Usually you just hit the paperclip, browse your computer, and it's there....oh well. All's well that ends well. However, I see Jesse Joe seems to have it really down to a (literally) science!
Still GRRRR - Sheryl

If I may be so bold as to answer for formerlylavender... years back when you could post without officially registering your user name she posted as lavender. Then someone registered as lavender so the name was unavailable. Thinking of Prince and all his names it was suggested that "formerlylavender" said it all. And said it in an artsy, sophisticated way so suited to the highbrow goings on here at corfid. Not sure who came up with the name but it's pretty cool, eh ?
Bill
And the person who "stole" the name has only posted 4 times in 7 years, more the pity, LOL

Re: My first pic on corfid.
Hi, Bill W! I'm still fat & sassy, sober, and OLDER THAN YOU! LOL
Poor formerly Lavender - I have the same problem with a Sheryl from Hollywood, I think? Plus, I'd like to change my name every three months so it's a good thing you can't.
I think lots of my GRRRR has to do with how it seems EVERYTHING is such a pain nowadays (NOT A SIGN OF GETTING OLDER, SURELY?) - that's part of it but also phasing out "people" - from getting menus on the telephone that have nothing to do with your problem but you have to spend five minutes listening to them before they finally tell you how to get to a human being (who are literally in India or the Philippines and you can barely understand them, and that's if you're lucky), to the Blackberry I can't seem to figure out (too much phone for me), to that "spawn of the devil", Bill Gates, who makes my life a living hell every year or so by bringing out some stupid new software that isn't fine-tuned and has to be corrected so you have to buy ANOTHER version of it. (What was wrong with Windows XP that they brought out Vista, which will change from 100 percent to a 75 or 50 percent size it seems at whim? WHO WANTED THIS FEATURE, I ASK YOU?!?)
And this rant should probably not be in this section of corfid, there's probably a way of splitting it up but I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THAT EITHER!
What a crotchety old broad I'm becoming! I need your serenity! Great to talk to you again, Bill! - Sheryl

Dear bjm7777 - don't know much about a McGlincy six-string but someone commented in Richmond how old Gord's guitar looked (it DID look old and really banged up) and the roadie said, "Well, it was made in the late 30's..." Does that make sense about a McGlincy?

Re: My first pic on corfid.
I'm glad my name fits in with the high standards here at corfid. Thanks for clarifying for me, Billw. See you in (almost) two weeks!
SherylKat, we have more than the name thing in common. I can't post pictures either, so don't feel bad. I had a picture of the Salute Restaurant (thought it was pretty cool) on my camera for over a month and was dreading trying to post it. Fortunately John Fowles stepped in and did it for me.

Re: My first pic on corfid.
Thanks for the link, Jesse Joe. Far better to read that article than to read my blatherings about it here on this site, SherylKat. Nevertheless, I will say that the guitar is a beauty.
Actually, my remarks were more of a compliment to the clarity of the pictures - didn't intend to hijack this into a different direction. Maybe Gord's battle-scarred D18 is in the hands of a loving guitar tech who is, as we speak, administering CPR to it for one more tour.
I certainly have enjoyed the photo contributions here on Corfid, that's for sure.

Re: My first pic on corfid.
The honest-to-gosh truth is that I just did a BING search for Gordon Lightfoot photos and that gem appeared in the middle of a bunch of the "usual" pictures we have all seen before.
Had to grab it. I found another one with Gord playing an Ovation guitar in Germany in the 1970's...

Re: My first pic on corfid.
Hope this works...Gord with what looks like an Ovation guitar, circa mid 1970's

Love this pic! Does it look like he has a way to go? (Are you a fan of Shellfish as I am?)
checked out your "location"; it looks beautiful (not to mention the loons!)

Googling and binging, I was able to find out that the picture was taken by Ottawa photographer Tony Fouhse.
In a 20 question interview with the Ottawa Citizen :
http://www.ottawacitizen.com/story_p...35357&sponsor=
Question 14 :
14. Of the public figures you've photographed, who least matched your idea beforehand of what they'd be like, and in what way?
"I try to go in without any preconceptions, but I would have to say Gordon Lightfoot. When I photographed him, a number of years ago, he'd had a stroke and was very fragile. He could hardly stand and he seemed to be lost in his own head and had to take time out from the shoot to go and pull himself together. In the end, I got what I thought was an amazing photograph, but when his manager saw it, he said "We never want to work with that photographer again." I think it was maybe a little too honest."

"Shellfish" made an impression on me. Seems to me to talk about endings, but from the point of view of a mentor, not from one who is actually leaving like in "River of Light". As for my location, I first came here in 2000 to play some golf for a week, and fell in love with the place. Moved here just over two years ago. Not heading out on a river of light - I'm staying put.

Re: My first pic on corfid.
To RM: Great info on that picture. I would never have guessed that Gord wasn't doing that well when he was photographed. Doesn't often wear a suit for photos, but he looked natty enough in that one. Check out the back cover of "Endless Wire".

MISS CHAR!
GRRRR - Sheryl
Luckily, I see that a WONDERFUL CORFID MEMBER has provided me with a cheat sheet! Aw-righty, then! (and if it's so easy, WHY do we have a test forum - don't answer that, you might hurt my feelings!)
I do really want to get this down so I don't have to go running to you or Sir John every time I have a pic I want to share!

Re the gauge of the strings Terry uses, many many years ago, I mean like in the Stone Age of 1977, Terry threw me a broken (he said it) G-string and as a joke told me I could save it as a souvenir. Joke's on him, I still have it, and now I know it's gauge, too! LOL
