18-Sep-08 Purchase, NY
Fine show tonight from Gord. Haunting 'Shadows'... after finishing 'In My Fashion' he said "That got the blood flowing..."
Great 'Hangdog Hotel Room'... beautiful 'If Children Had Wings' and nice to once again hear 'The Watchman's Gone'
And of course always a pleasure to hear 'Blackberry Wine' :-) with 'Old Dan's Records' to finish the night off.
A friend who was at his first Gord show tonight exclaimed afterward "What a songbook!"
Amen.
BTW - looks like Gord is avoiding the barber these days.
Off to bed.
-Blackberry John

Blackberry John,
Thank you for the fine review. I have heard all those songs this year and enjoyed them as you did. Awesome to hear your friend had a good time too.

Thanks for the great review Blackberry John. Re: Gord and barber, do you mean he's growing a beard or just letting his hair grow longer?

Sea of Tranquility, 14-Karat Gold, and The Watchman's Gone had me head-boppin' and Ribbon of Darkness, If Children Had Wings, If You Could Read My Mind, and Early Morning Rain had me all teary-eyed. Rick Haynes' bass is the best!

Re: 18-Sep-08 Purchase, NY
Thanks for the review John - wish I had been there. Regarding the barber: my family was saying that he'd look 10 years younger if he'd hit the stylist or just his local barber for a trim, and that was way back at Massey this year - hmmmm ? Whatever - he probably likes it and it's his head, eh ?

Re: 18-Sep-08 Purchase, NY
thanks bjohn, sounds like a nice eve
i agree, bw....i first noticed the mane and side hair wings on the Hour interview...he can start brading his hair pretty soon...maybe that's the goal...he may start wearing a Canadiana headband too, lol....but yes, it's undeniably his head

Re: 18-Sep-08 Purchase, NY
thanks for the review!
yes I too wondered about the length of his hair at Massey, then later in June it seemed he hadn't cut it yet..So he's possibly gone all summer without a salon visit..hmmm..he's gone to the same guy in Toronto for years..maybe he's outta town..

I love his long hair and hope he doesn't chop it off. Tomorrow night in Northampton after the show maybe I'll tell him that. LOL!

I can't remember when I've seen Gord start off a tour so strongly! He was in a great mood, and the crowd loved him! It was a wonderful show.
I took my seat, looked at the person next to me, and realized it was Mary Ann who was with us at Massey Hall in 2002. How funny that we ended up sitting next to each other! Small world.
Off to Cambridge and Northampton.

Re: 18-Sep-08 Purchase, NY
Been a really long time since I've commented here. I'm definitely grateful for this discussion thread. I've got tickets to see him Sunday night at Shea's in Buffalo. Sounds like it'll be another great Gord show.

Different Mary Ann! This one is from Long Island, and was with her mother in Toronto in 2002.

Thanks, Blackberry John, for posting the picture. It's gotten quite a bit longer since June - I like it.
