Gordon Lightfoot Ave.
I was heading back down from up north ontario and stopped in for coffee and baked goods at the 150 year old cafe ( http://www.mariposamarket.ca/index.p...=display&cat=2) not so far away from Gord's childhood home...it was relaxing watching the local characters come and go between 7 and 9 am (seemed like they were right out of early Lightfoot songs)
then as I walked back to my car I looked up and noticed the sign 'Gordon Lightfoot Ave.' along the small roadway leading to the old book store...the sign was actually behind some protective wire as I imagine more than one fan has tried to remove it and take it home to their shrine, I'm not mentioning any names, char lol
did the 2001 Massey gang, who did the Orillia trek happen to get a group photo there?
btw, thanks for the tip, char...there were lots of black bears ...applying that bear spray can save your life...i guess it smells like bear poop, which they enjoy sniffing but rarely consume

I have these photos from a neighbourhood in Pickering..10 min. from my place..I have a pic of a sign that sounds like the one you saw..I'll dig it out and scan it..it was in a store front on Mississaga Rd. in Orillia tho..I swear I never touched it!

lol, I gotta say my first thought was "how was that sign being suspended and I wonder if I have my Robertson and Philips in the trunk" lol
yes, it's right off of Mississaga Rd East...this wasn't in a store front though, it was 'sign'ifying the narrow roadway...I drove down it just as a novelty gesture and hummed Affair on Gordon Lightfoot Ave and hoped I didn't get carjack in the alley, lol
the only reference I see when I search google is one to the book store
anyhow, junior wants to know when we are going back to that candy scented shop in the basement of the historic Marisposa market next to GL Ave...I left my biz card after chatting with staff and said to be in touch if they'd like a short and simple tv commercial produced...I wonder what GL tune would be appropriate narrative background ambience... hmmm

Re: Gordon Lightfoot Ave.
Just love that little Orillia town. We stopped off there on our way back down from Huntsville where we attended a wedding.
The Opera House in Orillia was the big highlight and several of the very friendly staff were on hand there to greet us and chat about all things Lightfoot. The inside part of the hall was undergoing some work so we just hung out in the lobby for a bit and took a few pics. Will try and send them along asap.
That part of the country has got to be the most beautiful place anywhere. The leaves were just starting to show the very first vestiges of autumn and just deep breathing the air delivers a most joyous sensation. Could live and die there easily. It's where the peaceful waters flow that's for sure. Cheers, Ron J.
