A Beatles tune keeps playing in my head:
I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink
I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink
I wonder should I get up and fix myself a drink
No,no,no.
Bill

Re: Keswick June 15th
Wow, Bill that was fast. The pictures look great - that guy got the whole name on the marquis...cool. It was great seeing you and Lizanne again as well as John Fowles, Susan and Susan's Mom - all very nice people.
The show was awesome. Gord was in great form! He told two jokes - the hare one and I forget the other. He played If Children Had Wings which made my night. Our seats were very good - better than I expected. We sat right behind Bill and Lizanne, so that was an added bonus.
Jbt and I hung out in the "alley" after the show. We saw the band members come out and then Gord. We waited with the crowd to say hi to him. He was gracious as usual, and I even got a hug! That was the best part.
The setlist is as follows:
Cotton Jenny
Carefree Highway
Sea of Tranquility
14K Gold
Never Too Close
Painter
In My Fashion
Rainy Day People
Shadows
Beautiful
Watchman
Ribbon of Darkness
Sundown
The Wreck...
Set 2
Triangle
Hangdog Hotel Room
Restless
If Children Had Wings
Waiting For You
Make Way For the Lady
If You Could Read My Mind
Baby Step Back
Don Q
Early Morning Rain
Song For a Winter's Night
Blackberry Wine - Encore

Re: Keswick June 15th
After reading ELizabeth's review of Wolf Trap I had to add a few comments regarding the Keswick show.
Last night Gordon Lightfoot was in the zone ! He was as close to perfect as I have ever seen. He was chatty, he was funny, and his voice was GREAT. He seemed to be taking a new approach to some lines and making some vocal changes but whatever it was, it was working. He rarely seemed to be stretching or 'missing' anything. One of the jokes was the one about "why is the moon pale ? because it's been out all night !" I said something about not quitting his day job but I was kidding. He's got great comic timing and delivery, even with some corny material. The line about "I wrote this for my 2nd ex-old lady" was delivered just right with the proper smirk/sneer thing that had us rolling.
He even shifted gears to include "Song For A Winter's Night" for someone who had "requested" it (hollered it actually) and he was most gracious when someone came up between songs with a bunch of flowers. He was cooking on all burners.
My wife said it was the best she had ever seen of him.
Just wanted to throw that out there.
Billl

Re: Keswick June 15th
On the Wolftrap snippet video that I posted from You Tube that was my impression as well the voice seems to be getting better and stronger. That's great to hear from your wife's view. All is well !

So what song was that, Shadows? Just wondering how he is counting them these days.

Re: Keswick June 15th
That's believeable. Liz was his 2nd wife. But back when he broke up with Cathy Coonley, he referred to her as his "old lady" too. So it could have been Shadows, but it is more likely to have been Waiting For You.

Re: Keswick June 15th
Every time I see Song for a Winter's Night on the set list, my heart begins to race! I am so hoping that he plays it in Joliet on Sept. 28.

Yes, I was disappointed when he largely rotated it out. For years it had been one of the guaranteed songs, usually played just before CRT. Ah, those were the days.
Short of yelling out the title, you could try bringing some little bells and ringing them in the proper rhythm in the momentary silence between songs. Subtle, but he just might know what you mean.
