Always on the Bright Side, if they kept the live arrangement breathing like the studio one,the entire audience would feel so good
I love Haynes but also really dig those Szczesniak sessions, hey I loved Stockfish also
yeah, I love everything obsure of his, play it all! .. time to shelve Cotton Ginny, er Jinny, er Jenny, er Jenney, er whatever, lol
this reply's just full of love, eh? lol
...that alone will keep me breathing

Stationmaster,"I Can't Make it Anymore" is a song he wrote in the 60's but has not recorded himself (I'm guessing). As has been mentioned often here,Richie Havens recorded it on one of his albums in the early 70s.
Spyder Turner had a low charting single with it in 1967 or '68. Somewhere between #80 & #100. John F. sent me an Mpg of it online and it's a pretty good song. Since my PC went on the fritz,I don't "have it anymore". ( ugh...bad one! ) Later!

Re: if you could make Gord introduce one "obscure" song into his concert rotation?
I was very pleased to refind this old thread
as this subject is one close to my heart
It was extremely pleasing to find that this year Gord has rerotated "If Children Had Wings
I see that my number one choice
"Now And Then" has already been suggested
as has another old favourite "Miguel"
thankfully the former does appear as a live bootleg recording from Red Rocks Denver back in 1975
A super photograph of Redrocks Amphitheatre proving yet again how colourful is Colourado
and the latter I have as obtained from a 1972 UK BBC television broadcast. That leaves of songs known to have been in his repertoire that I would love to hear live his masterly version of "Farewell To Nova Scotia" which fortunately preceded the BBC Miguel and was decidedly more lively than the live recording from La Cave,Cleveland in 1965

I would love to hear - Home From the Forest.
Yep John, that is Red Rocks beautiful isn't it?
I will be going there in June for John Prine and EmmyLou Harris.
Sorry not Hiatt, Prine. and Prine is the headliner.

Who's headlining ? Hiatt or Harris ?
I'd like to hear "It's Worth Believin'". I think that would still fit into his current vocal range.

I suppose I'd go for "Rainbow Trout", "Seven Island Suite", "Somewhere USA" or Tatoo.

Lucky gal brink, it must be a great evening at that beautiful location. John Hiatt is another fav of mine...
"Seven Island Suite" has long been my favorite Gordon Lightfoot song. That's the one I would have loved to hear in concert in the 70's... I think these days it's not likely ? But one never really knows for sure.

Seven Island Suite: Talk about a genius in song writing. The work involved in the craftmanship is steller.
Harbor le`Cou : I always love his sea related songs and this im sure has never been done in concert.

Oh yes, Nightingale, I meant to include Too Late for Prayin' - definitely!
Trying to pick one song is just impossible. The man's work is truly awesome!

Re: if you could make Gord introduce one "obscure" song into his concert rotation?
I like when Gord rotates a "rarity" into the set lists. Now that it appears that he will not record original materials, I think one or two rotations into the set lists keeps fans really fresh. My favorites "surprises" from past tours:
1979: Bend in the Water
1980: Now and Then, Betty Called Me In, Mr. Rock of Ages
1982: Canary Yellow Canoe, Cherokee Bend
1984: Last Time I Saw Her Face; I'm Not Supposed to Care
1988: Pussywillows, Cattails; Race Among the Ruins
1989: Forgive Me, Lord; If It Should Please You
1993: Wild Strawberries, Welcome to Try (new songs at the time)
1997: Ode to Big Blue, Knotty Pine
1998: On Susan's Floor
1999: I'll Do Anything
2001: Let It Ride
2002: Sit Down Young Stranger, Ring Neck Loon
2005: Bitter Green, Morning Glory, Spanish Moss
2007: If Children Had Wings, My Little Love
I know that he did "That Same Old Obsession" and "On the High Seas" in the late 1990's, but I missed them. Darn.
If I had a wish list of what five songs I would have liked to have heard sometime in concert:
Seven Island Suite
Tattoo
Inspiration Lady
A Passing Ship
Too Late for Praying
I'm just grateful all the CDs are out now. Let's hope he puts out the "Best of Massey Hall (1967-2008)" later this year !!

"Poor Little Allison" This is the very first Lightfoot song I heard on the radio back in 1971.

Hi seafarer62,
Not sure about any of the other years, but Gordon started rotating in "If Children Had Wings" and "My Little Love" in 2008.
