Gordon Lightfoot - Waukegan - Genessee Theatre
I live in Chicago, but grew up in Detroit. The first time I saw Gordon Lighfoot I was 12. My baby-sitter took me to see him at a club called 'The Crow's Nest'. So I guess you could call me a long-time fan. Throughout my teens, twenties, and thrities, I saw Lightfoot ALOT. As the years went by I sort of lost track, occassionally listening to a favorite, but generally letting life get in the way.
Earlier this week I was looking for something to do. Hadn't been to a concert in years, and started checking things out at TicketMaster. Bought a ticket to see Ray Davies at the Chicago Theatre on Tuesday, then noticed that Lightfoot was playing in Waukegan. Damn! I haven't seen Gordo in a long time! I'd heard about his health problems, had kept up with his releases, but to see him live? For sure.
All I can say it was one of the finest moments in music I have experienced in a long time. Such a great thing to see Lightfoot still touring. If he's coming to your area, don't miss it.
