Default Carly Simon/Anticapation.

Did she ever regret allowing whatever ketchup bran name she allowed for using her song in a ketchup commercial?

Over the years I've heard some literally call Anticapation the ketchup song.

That was the HEINZ commercial (who else?)

I knew it in that form first though before I'd ever heard of Carly Simon. Unfortunatly,yeah...you can't help but picture the commercial when you hear it.

I'm sure it wasn't her idea though.

Anyone notice that many of today's commercials have soundtracks of songs from Motown's late '50s, the British Invasion & Psychedelic 60s and Classic Rock 70's? Is that because advertisers target the "boomers" with money or could it just be that real music with substance was produced during those creative years. Melodies that endure the test of time? Will rap and hip-hop endure to be played on radios decades from now, and can they sell anything but anger, hatred and violence? Hmmmmm...
Just my thought for the day.

I'll be amazed if this hasn't been tried before.......

Pick a product, then pick a Lightfoot tune that might work for advertising purposes, including at least a partial verse.

I'll start :

WD40

"Stay loose, don't fight it, let it take you all the way".

The song Anticapation beats ketchup. I have noticed some good soundtracks for commercials. Real music with substance. I know they target the boomers, but good music appeals to many age groups. Not this past football season, but the one before, during a play off game, I saw a wind energy commercial with a Cat Stevens soundtrack. It was good. Later, they took his soundtrack out and replaced it. It's still good, but it seemed funny that they replaced his music.

"East of Midnight" for any motel chain:
Put me somewhere east of midnight
West of the turnpike
Anywhere I wander is where I'll take my rest...

Also, Manischewitz already makes a "Blackberry Wine" lol.
