Chattanooga Show Report, Dore & Gord
Hey Char, thanks a bunch for the link to and the "props" re The Cumberland Trio in DSR's thread below!! :-) Hope all the Lightheads enjoy our music.
The Chattanooga show here in my home town exceeeded my wildest expectations- sold out hall with INCREDIBLE acoustics. The old girl Tivoli stands tall one as of the best halls in the world. It was a wildly enthusiastic crowd which really pumped Gord & the guys up. His voice was MUCH, MUCH better than Nashville a few months ago, and he became more animated as the show progressed, and the audience kept loving him back. He was REALLY happy, and it showed. The Tivoli acoustics are so damn good that we could hear Rick & Terry's unmiced harmony vocals from the 6th row!! He did almost two hours, and I'm sure someone will post a set list. The second half especially was a love fest as he added Pony Man by request to the set. After the encore he came out a 2nd time for extended smiles, waves and those signature bows!!
After the show, he was really upbeat and visited with the few of us with backstage passes (THANKS ANN LIEBOLD!!), along with the meet and greet for the drawing winners of a local radio station sponsor. All this occured down front in the hall itself- not backstage.
NOWWWW....for those of you in suspense, Dore really did herself proud last night!! She was a model of decorum. Gord did recognize her from the audience when she did her signature "You are AWESOME" after the first song. After the show she had some really neat chocolates in the form of long stem red roses and gave Gord one along with the band members, a few other Lightheads....AND yes...even ME!! :-)
We had a really good visit, and she is a fine lady, forgiving me for my post about her after the Nashville concert, for which I politely apologized in person, telling her I should have sent it to her privately. We even had our picture made together by her wonderful husband Ken!! THANKS, Dore!! Enjoy the rest of the tour!!
I had a really good 10 minute private visit with Gord, saying a big hello from Char (which made him smile broadly :-) and reminiscing about our mutual experiences during the good ol' days of the folk era from our first meeting in Toronto in 1966 at the Riverboat to jamming at Bradley's Barn in Nashville in the late '60s and mid '70s et al.
My close friend and ARDENT Gord fan, John from Austin, TX (aka the "Pen Man"), flew up as our guest for the show and had his incredible exotic wood ball point pens for Gord and each of the band guys. John has a Gibson B-45-12 that all you Gord fanantic players would die for- a 1964 cherry sunburst exactly like Gord's two.
SOOOO... all in all it was a great concert and a fantastic evening. Cya at Massey 2008 in May!!!!
Forever Young & Folk On,
Jerre

Re: Chattanooga Show Report, Dore & Gord
The Chattanooga show was wonderful, Pam,my daughter (16) and myself all had a wonderful time. Gordon sounded wonderful. He did sound better than he did in Nashville in September. The band was great and he did switch a few songs, doing "The Pony Man" and "If Children Had Wings" which were great to hear. My daughter, being 16, has new interest in "mom's music"! Her favorite "Alberta Bound" was really enjoyed by her. Thanks to Dore, we even got to met Gord and the band for the first time!! A thrill for me to say the least! I can now check that from my "bucket list". All in all a wonderful time was had by all. For those of you who have not checked into the Friday night chat, please join us sometime.

Re: Chattanooga Show Report, Dore & Gord
Hello from Alanta. Podunklander, Ken and I are only 4 hours away from hearing "The Man", again. I am so excited. Had a great time with Jerre in Chattanooga. Check his web site in a few weeks and there might be a picture of us together, or Jerre and Gordon.
Totally enjoyed meeting Rainbow Trout and Podunklander. Tomorrow Ken and I head for Daytona for the NASCAR race on Sunday. We will pick up GordQuest 2008 in Gainsville, Florida. Who will Ken and I get to meet?

Kathy #1!!!! You should know that I'm seriously considering a trek to Fla to be so lucky ! I have yet to check to see if this would work out. My cousin, her husband and children are on vacation all week and would like me to spend it with them. I am having the time of my life!
I went to the show in Atlanta last night and enjoyed it tremendously! I've considered it my favorite of all the others. My cousin insists this is so because we went together...and certainly it was great for us to have the opportunity to go! I loved the sets and the energy of the crowd...and awesome acoustics, etc.
Afterwards, I told Gordon that this is perhaps my favorite of all the shows I've been to, and that I had to pass on a Guitar Heroes marathon in order to attend. He replied, "Well then aren't you glad you did???!!!"....I said "OH YA".
First thing this morning after I rolled out of bed, before I even had a cup of coffee...me and Miss Emileelee were rockin' and rollin' on guitar heroes! She thinks I'm pretty good for a beginner...better than her friends!!!
Well Kathy....maybe I'll cya and my other friends real soon! I'll try!!
Pam
