Re: Ponyman Video
Thank you Char. I watched and listened as small pieces of soot are flying by my window from all these fires.

Re: Ponyman Video
Oh yes! Of course...Pony Man!!! Thanks! hehe
While my son and I were driving to the grocery store last month, we were rattling off names of songs that have "man" in the title (i.e., Tin Man, Jazz Man, Piano Man, etc.,) and we forgot Pony Man! I'm going to email him the link to this video, he'll love it.
thanks for posting this Charlene!

Cooooool!! I saw the video and yep!! I loved it! Some of those images are exactly what I pictured when I'd listen to the song too.
Wonderful!

Re: Ponyman Video
I just noticed something quite eerie in the Stonewall video for
"Wreck Of ThE Edmund Fitzgerald".
There's a shot of the back (front?) of the boat and it says Edmund Fitzgerald No. 2! That number, coincidentally,is the same # that it reached on the charts in November of 1976,on the one year anniversary of the wreck and a week before Gord's 38th birthday!
Sp-o-o-o-o-ky!

Re: Ponyman Video
If you open
this page
you will see that Tom has been busy again and within the last 24 hours has just posted on this site
two more probable gems that I am eagerly waiting to enjoy courtesy of this rotten slow dial up connection
these are:-
The Patriots Dream

and Leaves of Grass
instead of (or perhaps as well as I have yet to check) to youtube or daily motion just to confuse everybody??
Or is he just hedging his bets??
a quick perusal of "more from this user" reveals that possibly all the GL vidstories are also on live video
plus many more (I spotted one about Chelsea,London where "Tom spent some time in Chelsea and wrote a fine tribute to this place in London made famous by its Soccer Team, Buckingham Palace, Scotland Yard and Joni Mitchell"
also Landslide by Stevie Nicks and TWOTEF part 2
I must get around to subscribing to Tom's channel so that I can claim my free video as I have a suggestion regarding a vidstory involving my home town of Sherborne Dorset England, Sir Walter Raleigh and Bob Newhart.
I also found the delightful "New Zealand" video that Tom used as a demonstration during our memoriable studio visit back in Novwember 2006. it is at:-
Karekare My-Home
Note that the New Zealand Maori's alphabet has according to our guide last May in the wonderful Te Puia Museum in Rotorua

the same 5 vowels as English but only 17 consonents, most of which seem to be a W K or P!!!
Example the geothermal springs in that museium's area are known as the
Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley

but in Maori "Wha" is pronounced not as in "wha"-tever but the same sound as the first letter of a rude Anglo Saxon word that rhymes wiht "tuck"!!

Yes but Tom's "Leaves Of Grass" is similarly stupendous I loved the way he had superimposed a picture of a plane flying over the scenery very creative
I have now after several abortive attempts on my cretinous 56k dial up connection ( it would play say 50 seconds and then give up and offer to replay but only the first 50 seconds) managed to see the entire Patriots Dream masterpiece, quite possibly Tom's best yet, and then found the saved flv file on my hard drive then converted it to a more useful mpeg-1 format.
I do have one tiny quibble with Mr Salter though. it looks like he has intended that the entire video is a tribute to the Canadian Armed Forces currently in Afghanistan, if so since when have they been flying British Hawker-Siddely or American McDonnel Douglas Harrriers??
the video playing in a Flash video player

Re: Ponyman Video
Today I received another strange offer in my junk mail folder by an illiterate typing challenged idiot one
Shirin Whiting (shiphingr@hotmail.com)
it's email subject was an incomprehensible
RE: Vlaogra $1 , 31 scupper
and was addressed to
fowlesjhome@aol.com; fowlesjim@hotmail.com; fowlesjl@aol.com; fowlesjohn@hotmail.com; fowlesjonathan_fowles@hotmail.com
ah ha my long lost brother Jimlad I see!!!
I soon scuppered that with a deft delete action!!!
_____________________________________________
Reverting to the subject of this thread I have been reviewing the various videos from the genius with images Tom Salter that are now available on youtube.
Going to Tom's new page there at:-
http://www.youtube.com/profile_video...masj157&page=1
I found some 20 GL titles on the first page then on:-
http://www.youtube.com/profile_video...masj157&page=2
another 16 ,making a total of 36 based on GL songs plus a pair of other videos not GL based
I noticed that the oldest GL one was uploaded only 4 months ago, and I suspected from their thumbnails that some were subtly different to the original ones I had previously downloaded from his earlier youtube collection as 'Stonewall Studios".
I also compared the 36 titles with what I already had and found three were "missing', namely - The Wreck;
- Now And Then;
- A Painter Passing Through
I also noticed up a few new videos
evidently uploaded since the previous two new ones (Leaves Of Grass and The Patriots Dream"
these are:-
the five that I showed earlier:- - Pussywillows Cattails
(which opens with a stunning seriers of images showing both plants)
[
- I'll Tag Along
- Steel rail Blues
- Me And Bobby Magee (Funny I had never previously thought of Janis Joplin as being sexy!!)
- Seven Island Suite
PLUS three more!! - Cotton Jenny
(h)ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJPPrXsEMXM
- To Late For Praying
(h)ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxQswuJuRmY
- The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
(h)ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5CGheZYaMc
I also checked Tom's earlier use of the Daily Motion and Yahoo Videos facilities where the above three "missing" videos reside and by now thoroughly confused I decided to phone Tom to check what the situation really is.
Basically he is now a group of three and their plan is to get all 250 odd songs covered by the end of this year with an output of about 3 or 4 per week. the reason that the existing crop is of relatively recent uploading is that he has rebuilt all the original set .(He did once tell me that he intended trying to redo them with royalty free images)
Tom did confirm that in future the youtube channel will be the prime main uploading site and the "missing" videos will soon join the rest there I have therefore commenced downloading the latest versions., using of course the very easy to use frereware program that is proving ultra reliable
Easy Video Downloader
My intention is that once I have an up to date set of video files I will be converting them to the MPEG-2 format using the SUPER all-can-do video conversion freeware and then endeavour to make a DVD from them, all I have to fathom out at the moment is how to incorporate a proper menu to allow playing any one video at will.
Since Tom has not kept us up to date himself I have decided to do this review now, since I had started the ball rolling last week in the thread started by Char when she found the reworked Pony Man video

Re: Ponyman Video
The Pony Man video is great. Tom was kind enough to dedicate this song for me to a 4 year old girl that I know of that was in a bad car accident with her mother on Dec 6/07. Her mother is fine but Hanna the 4 year old girl will not walk again. She also suffered from some pretty bad internal injuries as well, which have been repaired. Hanna still remains in the hosptial. She has just been moved from the children's hosptial in Edmonton to the Glenrose rehab facility where she will remain till the end of March.
Hanna and her family loved the video... Her aunt says that "it was appreciated more than you know".
Thank You Tom!!! You're terrific!!
Kim
Here are a few pics of Hanna and one with her mom

Brannah,
That is truly a sad event. The struggles of Hanna will be great.
What a beautiful little girl she is!

Thanks Gwen & Jesse Joe.
Its Hanna's goal to ride her own horse along with her uncle in the Hardisty rodeo parade in
July of this year.

I have viewed and downloaded the pictures - if you have time - please email me the originals directly so we will have the benefit of the highest resolution possible.
you can send them to

In the meantime I will get started editing Ponyman for Hannah
