Besides where you are, what state or country would you like to live in?
Fairly easy question for myself. In the future I wouldn't mind living and retriring in Wyoming,my home state of Pennsylvania or Northern California. Some place with little to no large buildings or congestion. Mostly outdoors like.
Another country would be Canada,Italy,Sweden or Norway.
Where would you go to be happier,if anywhere?

Kentucky is my favourite state. We bought a piece of land there a while ago and I would like to get into farming one of these days.

For me it is not a matter of where it is what I might be able to afford. I will probably be a squatter on Kerstin's land in Kentucky.

Thanks Pam, I hope Kerstin gets the same laugh we did. I'm not sure where I would really want to live if I had a real choice. I have spent the last 25 years trying to figure it out. When I do I will let you (and Borderstone), know.

For me it's always been Hawaii. Hope to be able to go there one day...
or
Toronto Ontario, and live close to Gord Lightfoot.

Re: Besides where you are, what state or country would you like to live in?
Well I was only passing through Connecticut back in 1986. I never intended on living here for any length of time. But it's like this huge vortex.
I like it ok I guess, but for tax purposes and cost of living I'd have to go with Nevada or a territory like the US Virgin Isles. Euskadi (N. Spain) where my son is right now is an amazing region. I REALLY fell in love with parts of Michigan when I was there last Fall. And I really felt a difference in the air quality (much better).
I'm not too crazy about the town I live in, but I'd be happier than a pig in chit if there were a grocery store, used book store and a place to buy clothes.

Re: Besides where you are, what state or country would you like to live in?
In North Ontar-I-o.......... (sorry, but I'm staying close to home!)
A log cabin hidden amongst Northern Ontario’s backwoods of pine and fir overlooking Aubrey Falls with my canoe in stowed in the rafters awaiting spring break-up to the tune of ‘Song For A Winter’s Night’ by a crackling fire with my wife while thumbing my nose at the world.
Any questions?

In some hidden valley where the twirling river twines
Where the fish swim up and down and the sparkling water falls
Where the thunder rolls and the lonely puma calls”

Re: Besides where you are, what state or country would you like to live in?
I'll likely stay where I'm at, unless circumstances beyond my control force a move. I learned my lesson the hard way about 4 years ago. Thought I'd like living in NC, so I put my house in Michigan on the market and bought one in NC. Made the move, HATED it, and moved back into my Michigan house 3 months later. Luckily, the crappy real estate market up here had kept my house from selling! I was able to sell the NC house in 8 days! What an expensive 3 month vacation that was for me, and I'll probably never recover financially! LOL

Re: Besides where you are, what state or country would you like to live in?
I love where I live...Northern lower Michigan...6 miles to Lake Michigan, 5 miles from Sleeping Bear Nat'l Park and 30 miles to a commercial airport and shopping. I've been lots of places to visit friends or to vacation but don't think that I want to live in any of them.
There's no place like home.

Hi there Kathy and Dore,
you're both welcome in Kentucky, of course, as long as you help looking after the goats (lol)

Re: Besides where you are, what state or country would you like to live in?
Just wondering Kerstin if you ever heard the song "Kentucky Means Paradise" written by, Jimmy Dean, Merle Travis, sung by Glen Campbell. Great song.
You take a K and a E a N and a T a U and a CKY. That spells Kentucky, and it means Paradise.

Hi Jesse,
never heard that song before, but I agree. (Apart from the bit about eating the chicken, as I am vegetarian)

Re: Besides where you are, what state or country would you like to live in?
For what it's worth, with all it's imperfections & the like, I'd rather stay in the country & the state that I'm currently in. Though, I think it's mostly due to the fact that I feel more secure being where I can be near family. There are places that I'd like to visit, such as Canada & the UK, but, to quote Dorothy, "There's No Place Like Home" when it comes to where to live.

And while I'm thinking about it, the falls pictured are a true work of natures own art. They are what I call beautiful.

Hey Dame Rose, {LOL}
I will go visit you & Kerstin or be a squatter myself. Kerstin said she is vegetarian, so I guess this will mean "NO" Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Don't worry Jesse Joe, I will be doing the cooking. I don't cook fried anything but I promise you some gourmet meals. What are some of your favorite meals?
